Electric two- and three-wheeler manufacturer Zelio E-Mobility plans to add 150+ new dealers across South India by FY27, the company announced on 8 October 2026. Tamil Nadu is the priority market with about 40 outlets, while Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will get around 30 each.
Zelio currently operates 400+ dealers across 25+ states; the expansion takes it past 550 outlets by FY27. The move reflects where India's EV-adoption momentum is strongest — South India's state-level EV policies, charging infrastructure and fleet demand make it the most competitive battleground for affordable electric two-wheelers.
As EV financing improves and total-cost-of-ownership economics tilt decisively in favour of electric, dealership-led distribution remains the scaling moat for mass-market EV brands.
Why it matters for founders
In hardware categories, distribution is the product. Zelio's plan to go from 400 to 550+ dealers shows that in India's EV market, the winner is decided by dealer density, not just specs. If you build physical products, budget for the channel first.
