White Star Capital is a global multi-stage technology investment platform built on the belief that the best companies are born local and scaled global. Founded in 2014 by Eric Martineau-Fortin, Jean-Francois Marcoux and Christian Hernandez Gallardo, the firm has grown from five people across New York, Montreal and London into a 50+ person team across eight offices — New York, London, Montreal, Toronto, Paris and Milan, with a growing presence in Berlin, the Middle East and Asia.
In August 2026 the firm held the final close of White Star Capital Fund IV at $250 million to back technology companies at Series A and Series B. Together with its inaugural North American Seed Fund and several special-purpose vehicles, White Star has raised more than $350 million in fresh capital to support founders from seed through Series B. It also runs dedicated Digital Asset Funds investing in crypto networks and blockchain-enabled businesses.
The thesis centres on founders with the ambition, talent and product to scale internationally from day one — teams that understand their local ecosystems but think globally. Areas of current focus include foundational AI models, vertical AI applications and physical AI addressing real-world business problems. Beyond capital, the firm offers hands-on help with product strategy, hiring, go-to-market, international expansion and access to its network of operators, founders and advisors.
The portfolio spans 100+ companies with 22 exits. Exits include TheGuarantors (acquired by Warburg Pincus), Dialogue Health Technologies (acquired by Sun Life) and Freshly (acquired by Nestlé). Current category leaders include Butternut Box, Vention, Petfolk, Numan Health and FINN, alongside growth stories such as Flare, Ledn and Spiko. Fund IV has already led rounds into Sequen, Veesion, OatFi, AMI Labs, Tetrix and Trayd.
The firm is led by Founder & Co-Managing Partner Eric Martineau-Fortin — a transatlantic technology M&A banker by background — and Co-founder & Co-Managing Partner Jean-Francois Marcoux, co-founder of mobile game publisher Ludia, which he exited in 2013. It does not publicly advertise startup credit or perk programmes.
Why it matters for founders
For founders building for international markets from day one, White Star is a natural fit: a genuinely multi-office firm that can open doors in North America and Europe simultaneously, and stay with you from seed to Series B. It is strongest for B2B and consumer-tech teams whose ambition is global scale, not a single home market.
