Startup funding in India continues to flow into B2B infrastructure plays: Delhi-based travel-technology startup TravClan has raised $5 million in fresh funding, with Flipkart and Singapore-based August One subscribing to the equity portion and Trifecta Capital providing debt financing.

Building the tech stack for travel agents

TravClan, founded in 2018 by Arun Bagaria (CEO), Chirag Agrawal and Ashish Thapliyal, sells to travel agents and travel businesses rather than to travellers directly. Its platform brings together supply, technology and fulfilment — covering pricing, itinerary creation, bookings, payments, customer communication and on-ground support for flights, hotels, activities and international holiday packages.

The startup contracts directly with hotels and activity partners and runs its own ground teams across Southeast Asia, the Middle East and India, providing end-to-end destination services across more than 18 markets. According to the company, more than 15,000 travel agents across India use the platform, processing over $100 million in annual travel sales, with roughly 40% of business now coming from Tier-II and Tier-III cities.

The fresh capital will be used to deepen its global supply network, expand its technology and AI capabilities, and strengthen destination operations across key international markets. With this round, TravClan has raised over $11 million to date, from investors including Leo Capital, The Ventures, Hashed, August One, Flipkart and a group of angel investors.

Flipkart plans to use TravClan’s technology and agent network to expand holiday packages on Cleartrip and Flipkart Travel. “Our ambition is to make TravClan the infrastructure that any travel business can build on instead of having to recreate the entire travel stack itself,” said Bagaria.

Why it matters for founders

A strategic investor who can also become a distribution channel — Flipkart’s Cleartrip and travel business — is worth more than the cheque. If you sell to intermediaries, build the stack they all need, then let a giant distribute it.
