Tanglin Venture Partners brings Silicon Valley-grade growth investing to India's early stage. Launched in February 2019 by former Tiger Global executives Ravi Venkatesh (Managing Partner) and Edwina Yeo (Co-Founder & Partner), the Singapore-based firm was seeded by the founders and backed at launch by marquee Indian internet entrepreneurs — Binny Bansal, Sujeet Kumar, Kalyan Krishnamurthy and Facebook's Asia-Pacific head Dan Neary among 15+ LPs. It is named after Tanglin, a Singapore neighbourhood.

Investment thesis

Tanglin seeks “to partner with entrepreneurs building fast-growing businesses with large profit pools.” The approach is concentrated and research-driven: thematic investing, on-the-ground diligence, a disciplined deployment pace, and patient, long-term relationships with a deliberately small portfolio. Thesis areas include organising fragmented and unorganised sectors with technology, making distribution more efficient, D2C models, and increasing affordability for the masses.

Sectors & stages

Primarily Series A, with earlier participation via pre-Series A rounds. Sectors span business products & services, supply chain, fintech, SaaS and D2C/consumer brands — including commerce, digital health, insurtech, home appliances, food, childcare and education, and audio content.

Fund size & cheque sizes

Fund I closed at $50M in 2019; Fund II at $45M in 2022; the firm states $250M in AUM across 2 active funds. A Fund III targeting $250M has been reported via US SEC filings (early 2025) but has not been publicly confirmed as closed. Cheques run up to $8M; the average first cheque at launch was around $3M.

Notable portfolio

Pocket FM (audio content), Moglix (B2B MRO), Lifelong (home appliances), Jupiter, Rupeek, Ninjacart, Scapia, Plum (insurtech), Sugar.fit, SuperOps.ai, Credgenics, Master Chow (a $6.5M Series A led by Tanglin), Matiks ($3.1M pre-Series A led by Tanglin), Ziffi Chess ($5M Series A led by Tanglin) and CredFix (whose ₹16.1 Cr seed round we covered on this blog). The exits column already glows: PingSafe was acquired by SentinelOne for $100M+.

How to engage

The firm's site at tanglinvp.com is the contact point; no public pitch form or application process is published, so warm introductions and direct outreach through the website are the practical routes. Founders should note the Series A sweet spot (cheques up to $8M) and the India + Southeast Asia mandate.

Why it matters for founders

Raising a Series A in India or Southeast Asia and want a lead who actually leads? Tanglin's Tiger Global pedigree, concentrated portfolio and $8M-cheque firepower make it one of the sharpest Series A options — with founders like Binny Bansal on the LP bench, a yes from Tanglin buys you a network most funds can't rent.
