Low Earth orbit satellite startup Sanyark Space has raised $2 million in a pre-seed round led by Avaana and AUM Ventures, for satellites delivering high-precision navigation and communications.
The startup has validated its position-correction algorithms using ground receivers, with field trials in Hyderabad achieving positioning accuracy of less than 20 cm on commercial receivers. It expects its core technology to reach Technology Readiness Level 6 — a functional prototype in an operational environment — around now, and plans to test its payload on high-pressure balloons before launching its first proof-of-concept satellite with SpaceX in Q1 2027, followed by a second satellite for navigation and communication in Q4 2027.
Sanyark operates in B2G and B2B segments, with an initial focus on custom satellites for defence and government organisations alongside commercial applications in automotive systems, drones and timing infrastructure. The long-term ambition: 40 satellites in phase one covering India, the Middle East and South Asia, expanding to a global constellation of 240 satellites. It works with space infrastructure partners including Xilinx Labs and Agista for satellite bus integration and cleanroom assembly. The startup is part of YourStory's Tech30 2026 cohort.
Why it matters for founders
India's private spacetech pipeline is moving from demos to constellations — Sanyark pairs a credible 20cm-accuracy trial with a government-first go-to-market. For spacetech founders, early B2G anchor customers plus proven trials de-risk the long capex cycle for investors.
