Startup funding in India got a fresh AI boost this week as Bengaluru-based AI agent startup RapidCanvas raised $29 million in a Series B round led by Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India. Hitachi Ventures and existing investors Accel, Peak XV Partners, Valley Capital Partners and Titanium Ventures also participated, taking the startup's total funding to $52.5 million.

From AI pilots to production

RapidCanvas, co-founded and led by CEO Rahul Pangam, pairs an AI platform with field AI engineers who build custom applications on top of customers' business processes — and stay accountable for outcomes after deployment. The company said more than 75 enterprises across manufacturing, financial services, retail, business services and infrastructure have made 1.4 million AI-led decisions using its applications in 2026 so far.

The fresh capital will be used to expand its go-to-market teams, strengthen partnerships with private equity firms and advisers, and grow its AI engineering teams across India, the US and Brazil, alongside investment in platform development and governance.

Vertex Ventures SEA & India general partner Piyush Kharbanda said most enterprises are still searching for real returns on their AI spend, and that RapidCanvas delivers by pairing a compounding AI platform with forward-deployed engineers who own the outcome end to end.

Why it matters for founders

The round is a vote for outcome-based AI services over pure software: buyers are paying for AI that lands in production with accountability attached. For enterprise AI founders, bundling deployment engineers with the platform — and proving decision counts — is becoming the fundable playbook.
