AI-native cybersecurity firm Protectt.ai plans to acquire a controlling stake in AIShield, an AI security platform incubated within Bosch Global Software Technologies (BGSW). Bosch will retain a minority stake in AIShield following the transaction, which was reported on 27 October 2026.

Deal structure

The deal features both primary and secondary components, and will be a combination of cash and ESOPs, Protectt.ai cofounder Manish Mimani told Inc42. The transaction value and timeline were not disclosed. The business — AI Shield Private Limited — will operate as a separate entity, with its existing intellectual property transferred to it, Mimani told The Economic Times.

AIShield, founded in 2022 by Shiv Kumar and Amit Phadke, protects machine learning models, generative AI applications and AI supply chains against adversarial attacks and compliance risks. It will continue to operate as an independent entity under Protectt.ai, with its own professional management team and a focus on AI security research and product development. It will also be able to raise external funding in the future.

From mobile security to enterprise AI security

Protectt.ai, founded in 2020 by Manish Mimani and Mohanraj Selvaraj, provides mobile threat defence that helps apps guard against cyber threats and fraud, and serves as a compliance hub for app owners under RBI, SEBI and NPCI rules. The AIShield deal extends that platform into enterprise AI security.

This is Protectt.ai's first acquisition. The startup set up an M&A team earlier in 2026 and is exploring opportunities in API security and cloud security. It secured around $16 million in a Series A round led by Bessemer Venture Partners and Bajaj Finance in 2025, and Mimani said it expects to consider raising fresh funds in 2027.

Why it matters for founders

Acqui-hiring a corporate-incubated team is a shortcut to a new product line: Protectt.ai gains AIShield's AI security capability, patents and research talent without building from zero, while Bosch keeps upside through its minority stake. For founders, the lesson is that a well-run corporate incubation can become an acquisition pipeline, not just a customer.
