Prosus is back hunting in India fintech. The Amsterdam-listed investor has held exploratory funding discussions with Kiwi, the credit-on-UPI startup that is looking to raise around $40 million, The Economic Times reported on October 7, 2026. The talks are at an early stage — no term sheets, no closed round — but they signal Prosus's renewed appetite for Indian fintech after a quieter few years.

Kiwi, founded in 2022 by Siddharth Mehta, Mohit Bedi and Anup Agrawal, offers bank-issued RuPay credit cards and credit lines for UPI payments — letting users spend on credit through the UPI rails they already use daily. The startup raised a $24-million Series B led by Vertex Ventures in 2025, taking total funding to $43 million. It says it has issued 200,000 RuPay cards, processes 5 million+ monthly merchant transactions across 600 cities, and partners with Axis Bank for issuance.

The Kiwi conversations sit inside a broader Prosus fintech push. ET reports the investor is also in advanced discussions to back AI-led credit management startup Oolka alongside Bessemer Venture Partners — and Prosus put $100 million into Navi this August. It is reportedly also in talks with savings startup Bachatt.

The timing is no accident. UPI processed ~145 billion transactions in H1 2026, and the credit-on-UPI rail is the next frontier every lender and fintech wants a piece of. Prosus, with its global fintech portfolio and India exits behind it, clearly intends to own a lane.

Why it matters for founders

Talks-stage stories deserve the caveat — nothing is closed — but the pattern matters more than the deal: Prosus is actively writing India fintech cheques again after its $100M Navi investment in August. If you are building in lending, credit-on-UPI or savings, the window with global fintech investors is open right now.
