Onto has raised $1 million (about Rs 8.3 crore) in a pre-seed funding round led by Stargazer Fund, with participation from Singapore-based White Venture Capital, Entrackr reported on 21 October 2026. The Bengaluru-based travel startup has also launched its services, going from founding to launch and funding within a few months — one of the quicker pre-seed stories in startup funding in India this week.

A refund when hotel prices drop

Onto was founded in June 2026 by Jagdeep Singh and Shubham Goyal. It is a customer-first travel platform that helps travellers discover and book hotels while tracking price drops on eligible bookings — including bookings made through other platforms.

Its first offering, Price Drop Refund, monitors hotel prices after a booking is made. If the same room for the same dates becomes available at a lower price, the platform refunds the difference to the original payment method, with updates through WhatsApp and app notifications. The feature covers bookings made on Onto as well as eligible bookings made elsewhere — the post-booking price-drop frustration it is built to kill.

The company has integrations with multiple hotel suppliers covering domestic and international destinations, and is developing AI-based features that read travellers' preferences and past behaviour to recommend options and explain why they fit. Onto plans to expand beyond hotel bookings to simplify other parts of the travel journey.

Use of funds

The fresh capital will be used to scale operations, strengthen its technology infrastructure and develop new products, the company said in a press release.

Why it matters for founders

Online travel is crowded and discount-heavy, but Onto is not competing on price or inventory — it is selling post-booking trust, the promise that you will not overpay. For founders, the lesson is in the wedge: a small, legible pain (booking anxiety) can anchor a product in a market where the giants fight on scale. A $1 million pre-seed shows early-stage investors will back that wedge if the mechanism — here, automated price monitoring and refunds — is genuinely different.
