Indian sports-tech startups have a new global stage. The National Basketball Association (NBA) has opened applications for the sixth cohort of NBA Launchpad, its global initiative to identify and pilot emerging technologies — and this year's programme adds a dedicated “Future of the Asia Sports Experience” priority area aimed squarely at India and the region.
The NBA is inviting technology-enabled companies from around the world to apply, but the new Asia track specifically seeks startups that can make basketball experiences and content more accessible, personalised, efficient and scalable — addressing opportunities unique to the region. Companies headquartered in Asia, Australia or New Zealand are eligible for the priority area.
Selected companies will pilot their technologies with NBA teams, work closely with league executives and subject-matter experts, and present the results at Launchpad Demo Day during NBA Summer League before NBA executives, strategic partners and investors. Based on pilot outcomes, the league will evaluate broader strategic partnerships — making this a genuine enterprise-customer pipeline, not just a logo.
Applications close on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ET. For Indian founders, the Asia-first track is the key signal: the NBA is actively hunting for locally built solutions — fan engagement, content personalisation, venue tech, grassroots development tools — and offering a global league as the testbed.
Why it matters for founders
NBA Launchpad is one of the rare accelerators that comes with a built-in enterprise customer: pilot with an NBA team, demo at Summer League, and a shot at a league-wide partnership. The new Asia track means Indian sports-tech startups no longer compete as afterthoughts. Deadline is October 16, 2026 — if you're building for sports fans, apply now.
