Startup funding in India is only half the ecosystem story — talent is the other half. On October 23, 2026, Microsoft, MeitY Startup Hub and the 1M1B Foundation launched a Green Skills and Applied AI Centre of Excellence at SAS iTower, Hyderabad.
AI and green skills under one roof
The centre will provide practical training in applied AI, pharmaceutical manufacturing, solar energy, electric vehicles and wind energy, alongside industry mentoring, internships and employment pathways. It carries a dedicated AI and Green Pharma training track, linking two of India's biggest growth bets — AI and clean energy — directly to workforce readiness.
100 offers on day one
The demand signal is already there: 1M1B Jobs Express reported 100 job offers on the centre's first day. The Hyderabad facility is part of a planned network of five centres aiming to train 100,000 young people in AI and green skills by 2030.
Why now
The timing maps to where the jobs are going. India's global capability centres are projected to grow from 2.3 million employees to 3.3–3.7 million by 2031, generating up to 170 million sq ft of additional office demand, according to an Embark report. A survey of 100 GCC leaders found 92% have moved beyond selective AI adoption, with demand shifting toward specialised AI, data and cybersecurity roles. For startups competing with GCCs and large enterprises for AI talent, a public-private training pipeline at this scale is a structural tailwind — not just a press release.
Why it matters for founders
A 100,000-strong pipeline of AI- and green-skilled talent is a hiring runway for startups in deeptech, clean energy and EV. Founders building in these sectors should watch the centre's internship and mentoring channels for early access to trained talent.
