What's happening
MakeMyTrip is in talks to acquire car-and-bike pooling platform Quick Ride through its bus-ticketing subsidiary redBus, Entrackr exclusively reported on October 19, 2026. The deal is currently at the due-diligence stage, with both sides examining the business and negotiating finer points, and is expected to involve a combination of cash and equity if completed.
MakeMyTrip declined to comment on the proposed acquisition, while queries to Quick Ride's founder went unanswered at the time of publication.
Why Quick Ride
Founded in 2015 by KNM Rao in Bengaluru, Quick Ride connects commuters travelling along similar routes for car and bike pooling, and also serves corporate employees' daily commute needs. Notably, Sequoia Capital India exited the company through a secondary transaction in February 2021 after backing its Series A and Series B rounds.
The strategic fit is clear: redBus already operates rPool, a carpooling service linking verified professionals on similar commute routes. Absorbing Quick Ride would deepen MakeMyTrip's footprint in urban mobility and corporate commuting — a natural extension for a travel platform that has already consolidated Goibibo and redBus, taken a majority stake in Flamingo Transworld and made a strategic minority investment in visa platform Atlys.
Why it matters for founders
MakeMyTrip keeps buying the commute, not just the vacation — daily-use mobility is higher-frequency than holiday travel. For founders, the pattern is that acquirers pay for frequency: a product users touch twice a day is worth more to a travel giant than one they touch twice a year.
