JioGenNext is the flagship startup accelerator backed by Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) — the programme that has been handholding B2B startups since before B2B was fashionable in India. Led by Head of JioGenNext Amey Mashelkar, the accelerator has scaled 136 startups across 11 cohorts, and its alumni roster reads like a who's who of Indian enterprise tech.

How the programme works

JioGenNext runs an intensive, full-time programme built on a two-stage approach: deep mentoring first, followed by a proof-of-concept with RIL or Jio. The programme helps disruptive startups build their business from the ground up — evaluating business plans, fine-tuning product-market fit and the product roadmap, and fast-tracking investment discussions by connecting founders to the right stakeholders. After the cohort, the team tracks each startup's progress from the point of view of acquisition or long-term commercial partnership with Reliance. Key modules include exhaustive one-on-one mentoring with industry experts, business model canvas and operational planning, growth hacking, and digital marketing and PR strategies.

The Reliance advantage

The programme's superpower is the RIL connection. Startups get an opportunity to partner with Reliance's vast businesses — Reliance Retail, Reliance Jio and more — gaining customer feedback, distribution and credibility that money cannot buy. As one alumnus put it, onboarding Reliance Jio as a first enterprise client answered every question about the startup's ability to scale. The programme also runs dedicated investor roadshows where selected startups pitch to angels and VCs, and it has traditionally been equity-free: participants have not had to part with equity or pay fees beyond their own travel and accommodation.

Who it is for

JioGenNext is aimed squarely at B2B startups building the next big thing. Startups in new commerce, agriculture, education, healthcare, fintech, media and entertainment, social and messaging, and telecom benefit most, given RIL and Jio's market leadership in those sectors — with additional technology focus on AI and machine learning, blockchain, AR and VR, consumer and industrial IoT, data analytics, drones, SaaS and automation tools. The programme has been near sector-agnostic in practice, supporting B2B startups across healthcare, education, fintech, retail, logistics, travel, gaming, media, adtech, agriculture, e-commerce, cybersecurity and enterprise IT.

Alumni and ecosystem

The alumni lineup is the programme's best pitch: Headspin, LogiNext, CARIQ, BharatAgri, Utter, Jiny and Lavelle Networks among others. Its ecosystem partnerships include Microsoft Azure, Accenture, EY, Amazon Web Services and the Alchemist Accelerator, alongside investors such as Kalaari Capital, 3one4 Capital, Indian Angel Networks and Upekkha.

Why it matters for founders

JioGenNext is the rare accelerator where the prize is not just mentorship but a commercial relationship with India's largest private enterprise. If you are a B2B founder whose product could sell to or through Reliance's businesses, a cohort here can compress years of enterprise sales cycles into weeks — with no equity given up. Apply when your product is ready for a real enterprise proof-of-concept, not before.
