XA Network is a Singapore-based investment network of senior technology executives that backs early-stage startups across Southeast Asia, Australia and Africa. Launched in 2018 by former Google executives in the region, it offers founders something a traditional fund cannot: an investor base of operators who have built and scaled technology companies themselves.
Thesis
XA Network exists to foster innovation by empowering the tech community. Its thesis is focused on companies and entrepreneurs solving real problems, or creating positive impact, in Southeast Asia, Australia and Africa, three regions it describes as dynamic, youthful and rapidly digitising. Members contribute far more than capital, advising on business strategy, product development, fundraising and hiring through the network's collective experience.
Sectors & Stages
XA Network invests from pre-seed to pre-Series A across sectors including mobility, edtech, fintech, proptech, SME technology, travel and enterprise software. It has chapters in Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa and Australia, and its current site also lists curated pre-IPO allocations and venture fund investments alongside early-stage company deals for its members.
Fund & Cheque Size
XA Network is a member network rather than a pooled venture fund, so it has no publicly disclosed fund size. It reports more than 100 investments since 2018. Early reporting put typical tickets at US$50,000 to US$300,000, usually into companies valued at up to US$5 million, though current ticket sizes are not published on its site.
Notable Portfolio
XA Network's portfolio includes Singapore knowledge-sharing platform Tigerhall, micromobility operator Neuron Mobility, Indonesian SME platform Lummo (formerly Bukukas), gig-economy platform Sampingan, Indonesian software company Infradigital, Kenyan travel platform BuuPass, Nigerian agtech company Crop2Cash, Intellect and Elita Genetics. Its first exit was Singapore video-sharing service Lomotif, acquired in a deal reported at US$125 million.
Partners & Programs
XA Network's members are senior executives from companies including Google, Alibaba, Gojek, Grab, Amazon, Netflix and Twitter. The network runs four pillars for members, INVEST, INSPIRE, IMPACT and INTERACT, covering curated investments, panels and fireside chats, confidential peer advisory circles and community events. It has also expanded into Africa as XA Africa, with a public demo day for its first African cohort. No startup credits or perks programme is published.
How to apply for funding
Founders typically reach XA Network through member referrals, so a warm introduction from a portfolio founder or a network member is the strongest route. Its website, xanetwork.co, is the starting point for contact. A pitch should show why operator help matters for your specific problem, because hands-on support from experienced builders is the network's main selling point.
Why it matters for founders
If you are raising a pre-seed or seed round in Southeast Asia, Australia or Africa and want investors who will roll up their sleeves, XA Network is worth approaching. Its operator members can open doors that money alone cannot.
