Vertex Growth Fund funding comes from Singapore's dedicated growth-stage engine inside the Temasek orbit. The fund is anchored by Vertex Holdings, a wholly-owned subsidiary of global investment firm Temasek, and sits as the growth-stage arm of the Vertex global network of venture funds. It is distinct from its early-stage sibling Vertex Ventures SEA & India (profiled separately) — Vertex Growth picks up where the early-stage funds leave off, writing expansion cheques into companies on the cusp of becoming category champions.
Thesis & focus
Vertex Growth says it is dedicated to "investing in high-potential companies on the cusp of scaling-up" and provides expansion capital so founders can build "a category champion that is enduring and transformational". As part of the Vertex network, it accesses deal flow from innovation hubs across the US, China, Israel, India, Southeast Asia and Japan, and works closely with the Vertex ecosystem of portfolio companies and partners. The Vertex Holdings platform reports close to $7 billion in assets under management.
Sectors & stages
Vertex Growth invests at the growth stage — typically Series B through Series D rounds. At launch it said it would invest $10 million to $15 million to participate in a selected company's third or fourth funding round, with Vertex's early-stage affiliates separately writing $3-4 million early-stage cheques. Its Indian bets span consumer brands, SaaS, fintech and content.
Fund size & cheque size
The inaugural Vertex Growth Fund closed at $290 million, surpassing its $250 million target, backed by Temasek, Taiwanese chip designer Elan Microelectronics and institutions, family offices and funds in Southeast Asia and Taiwan. A second vehicle, Vertex Growth Fund II, is on record in Kissht's DRHP shareholding disclosures; its size is not publicly stated in the sources reviewed. Typical cheques run $10-15M.
Vertex Growth Fund funding: notable portfolio
Recent India activity shows the fund's range: it co-led the $60 million Series D in ayurveda brand Kapiva with 360 ONE Asset, led the $54 million Series B in contract-management SaaS SpotDraft with Trident Partners, co-led a $40 million Series B in jewellery brand Palmonas with Xponentia Capital, participated in vernacular content platform Kuku FM's $85 million Series C led by Granite Asia, and holds a stake in digital lender Kissht, which has filed for a ₹1,000 crore IPO. Globally it co-led Cala Health's $50 million growth round with Nexus NeuroTech Ventures and committed €10M to semiconductor-IP firm Dolphin Semiconductor.
Partners & team
Hock Chuan Tam is a General Partner at Vertex Growth. The wider Vertex Holdings group is led by CEO Chua Kee Lock. The firm does not publish a full partner roster for the growth fund, so founders should route through the Vertex network rather than named individuals.
How to apply for funding
Vertex Growth publishes no open application form or pitch email. The realistic route is a warm introduction through the Vertex ecosystem — the early-stage Vertex Ventures funds, existing portfolio founders, or co-investors in the Temasek network. Growth-stage founders in India and Southeast Asia who have already raised institutional rounds and are scaling fast are the natural fit.
Why it matters for founders
Vertex Growth is one of the few genuine growth-stage options in India and Southeast Asia with sovereign-scale backing — a $290M inaugural fund, a $10-15M cheque sweet spot, and the Temasek-anchored Vertex network behind it. If you are past product-market fit and raising Series B or later, this is a high-signal growth partner — but there is no public pitch door, so network into it.
