Singular funding is the route to one of Europe's most ambitious new venture firms. Launched in 2020 by two former Alven partners, this Paris-based VC deliberately aims to rival Index Ventures, Accel, Balderton and Atomico — a European-scale generalist built to back founders "born in Europe, built for the world". It has closed two funds totalling over €625M, and its second fund was raised to €400M at hard cap. If you are building from seed to Series B with global ambitions, Singular wants to hear from you.
Thesis & focus
Singular's thesis is a standard, not a vertical: "What connects every company in our portfolio is not a vertical but a standard: born in Europe, built for the world." The firm backs founders who use frontier technology to reshape their disciplines, describing itself as a small team by design — one that "commits early and stays close, beside you and never behind you". Co-founder Jérémy Uzan frames the ambition simply: be one of the ten names a founder keeps on speed dial.
Sectors & stages
Singular is explicitly generalist and opportunistic, with no vertical focus. Its investments span SaaS and infrastructure, fintech, health, climate and materials, AI and hospitality. Stages run from seed to Series B, weighted towards Series A, and the firm leads rounds when it can. Around a third of the portfolio is France-based, with the rest spread across Europe — Paris headquarters, but deliberately not London-centric. Late-stage follow-ons are handled through special-purpose vehicles formed with LPs.
Fund size & cheque size
Fund I closed in March 2021 at €225M (about $265M at the time), with LPs including Axa, MACSF, the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, Bpifrance, Mubadala Capital, Vintage Investment Partners and Sofina. Fund II closed in December 2023 at €400M (about $435M) — at hard cap and above its €350M target — with all Fund I LPs returning plus new US and European foundations and family offices. Together the two funds total more than €625M. Cheques range €1M–€25M on the second fund, with up to €20M per deal on the first.
Singular funding: notable portfolio
The portfolio includes Qonto, Resilience, moka.care, Soda, Indy, Shares, Fairmat, Tinybird, Life5, Thynk, Osium AI and Continuum Industries. Singular led Formel Skin's €30M Series A in 2022 and Lucis's $20M Series A in May 2026. The founders also carry Alven-era pedigree: bets on Algolia, OpenClassrooms and Dataiku, plus a co-investment in Stripe.
Partners & team
Raffi Kamber and Jérémy Uzan are the two co-founding General Partners, with eight and eleven years at Alven respectively. The firm runs deliberately lean, which it presents as a forcing function for focus and speed.
How to apply for funding
There is no public pitch email, contact form or application portal — the firm is deliberately low-profile about itself. The practical route is a warm introduction or direct partner outreach. Founders should come prepared with a crisp account of how their company becomes a European-to-global leader, the standard Singular screens for.
Why it matters for founders
Singular brings €625M+ of firepower and a top-tier track record (Algolia, Qonto, Stripe) to seed-to-Series-B rounds — for European founders with global ambition, warm outreach here is well worth the effort.
