Prath Ventures funding is aimed squarely at one of the hottest corners of the Indian startup market: digital consumer businesses. Founded in 2022 in Mumbai by Harmanpreet Singh and Piyush Goenka, Prath Ventures is an early-stage consumer VC fund deploying its maiden vehicle, Prath Ventures Fund I, since a first close of roughly ₹50 Cr in January 2023.
Thesis & focus
Prath Ventures invests in digital consumer businesses and their enablers — brands, products, services, retailers, and the technologies powering the Indian consumer experience. Category selection is central to the strategy: the team studies consumer categories before backing founders in them. Harmanpreet Singh describes the firm's edge as blending "venture capital agility with the discipline and rigour of private equity", while Piyush Goenka emphasises capital plus strategic guidance and operational support. The macro bet: Morgan Stanley projects Indian consumption crossing $4 trillion by 2030.
Sectors & stages
The firm invests from Seed to Series A and explicitly wants to be a founder's first institutional investor, leading rounds. Verified deal activity spans beverages and F&B, clean snacking, travel goods, QSR coffee, pet food, and lab-grown-diamond jewellery.
Fund size & cheque size
The target corpus for Prath Ventures Fund I is ₹225 Cr. The first close of about ₹50 Cr came in January 2023 from HNIs and family offices, followed by a second close of ₹120 Cr (about $14.5M) in March 2024 with participation from SIDBI Funds of Funds, founders and family offices. By July 2024 the firm had ₹135 Cr of closed commitments; the final close amount has not been publicly disclosed. How to apply for funding
Prath Ventures does not publish an application form or a dedicated pitch email. Its stated position is: "If you are building in this space, we would love to hear from you." Founders should reach out through the firm's website contact channel with a crisp deck. The firm also hosts the Prath Consumer Mixer, an evening networking event for early-stage consumer founders. No portfolio credits or perks programme has been publicly disclosed.
Why it matters for founders
For consumer-brand founders in India, Prath Ventures funding offers a specialist lead investor at seed and pre-Series A, with ₹1–15 Cr first cheques and partners who have operated in consumer businesses. If you are building a brand, beverage, retail or enabling-technology business, this fund will understand your category before you finish the pitch.
