Partners Group is a global private markets investment manager founded in 1996 and headquartered in Baar-Zug, Switzerland. It is majority-owned by its partners and employees. As of 30 June 2026 it manages USD 186 billion in assets, Partners Group funding reaches founders through direct investments and growth capital rather than seed cheques — and the firm, with a Mumbai office, has been an active investor in India since 2006.
Thesis & focus
The firm calls itself a business builder, not just an asset gatherer. Its industrial mindset is, in its own words, "more Main Street than Wall Street": it buys, builds and transforms companies rather than trading them. Its integrated platform combines private equity, infrastructure, real estate, private credit and royalties, with structuring capabilities that let it craft bespoke solutions for institutional clients.
Sectors & stages
On the deployment side it had signed $5 billion of transactions through August 2026, including the acquisitions of Aroma-Zone in beauty and wellness and AVK, a data-centre power-supply specialist. Recent investments include the next growth phase for atNorth, a Nordic data-center operator, a stake in international sports talent agency SEG, and a EUR 300 million financing package for MDT. In India, activity has centered on private equity, real estate and infrastructure, with interest in education, healthcare and financial services. Deal cheques are institutional-scale; a specific range is not publicly disclosed.
Fund size & cheque size
It reported USD 186 billion in assets under management as of 30 June 2026, after a record USD 16 billion of first-half fundraising — a 31% year-on-year jump — and confirmed full-year guidance of USD 26 billion to USD 32 billion in gross new client demand. Management income reached CHF 905 million in H1 2026, with profit of CHF 502 million.
Partners Group: notable portfolio / investments
The firm has been a direct investor in India since 2006. Its landmark India deal was the $270 million leveraged buyout of CSS Corp, the technology support services provider with a majority workforce in India, alongside an investment in a chain of schools. In 2026 it completed the exit from Gong cha, the Taiwanese bubble-tea chain, in Bain Capital's acquisition; it had backed TA Associates' 2019 takeover with $200 million in financing. It also secured a $1 billion mandate from an Asian institutional investor for private credit across Asia-Pacific.
Partners & team
Roberto Cagnati and Juri Jenkner become Co-Chief Executive Officers effective 1 January 2027 — both joined in 2004. David Layton transitions from CEO to Chief Investment Officer and Chairman of the Global Investment Committee after eight years. In India, the Mumbai office is headed by Cyrus Driver, a Managing Director who joined in 2012 to build the firm's direct investment activities.
How to apply for funding
An institutional manager: capital comes from pensions, insurers and sovereigns; direct investments target established, later-stage businesses. There is no public founder route, accelerator or startup credits. Growth-stage founders in its focus sectors can engage through deal teams — including the Mumbai office — but the realistic path is a relationship built through bankers, advisers or co-investors.
Why it matters for founders
Partners Group is the buyer at the end of the growth journey, not the first cheque. If you are building an Indian business with scale and profitability, a $186B Swiss house with a Mumbai office has been a direct investor here since 2006 — and may be on the other side of your growth round or your exit.
