Who Pantomath Capital is
Pantomath Capital is the fund management side of Pantomath Group, a Mumbai group best known as a SEBI-registered Category I merchant banker that has lead-managed more than 100 IPOs. Its investing arm, Pantomath Capital Management Private Limited, manages the India Inflection Opportunity Fund (IIOF), a SEBI-registered Category II Alternative Investment Fund (AIF). This is not a seed-stage venture firm. It is pre-IPO growth capital for companies that already work.
Investment thesis
The India Inflection Opportunity Fund invests at the pre-IPO stage in Indian growth-stage businesses on the verge of a big breakout, seeking value arbitrage without taking long-term risk. Fund manager Madhu Lunawat has said the fund backs under-penetrated businesses with an established foundation and a visible growth trajectory, and avoids ventures with negative cash flows and bleeding balance sheets. Its three themes are Make in India, rural consumption and impact investing, with growth capital provided through an active ownership approach.
Fund size and cheque size
The India Inflection Opportunity Fund was launched in April 2022 with a target of Rs 500 crore plus a Rs 250 crore green-shoe option, and closed at about Rs 500 crore (around $60 million), with participation from domestic sovereign funds, global and domestic family offices, marquee anchor investors and high net-worth investors. No per-company cheque range is publicly stated, so none is claimed here. As a scale marker, The Wealth Company Alternates, part of Pantomath Group, runs the Bharat Value Fund, whose four investments in twelve months averaged about Rs 400 crore each. That is large-ticket growth capital, not early-stage money.
Notable portfolio
The India Inflection Opportunity Fund's first investment was Inventys Research Company, a specialty chemical custom synthesis and manufacturing company based around Nagpur. At group level, the Bharat Value Fund invested about Rs 400 crore in Boldfit, the homegrown sports brand, as part of its Series B round in October 2026, and its earlier investments include Zetwerk, Amnex Infotechnologies and Big Mishra. Note the distinction when you pitch: Boldfit and Zetwerk sit with the group's Bharat Value Fund, not necessarily with IIOF itself.
People, programmes and perks
Madhu Lunawat is the fund manager of IIOF and the founder of The Wealth Company, the group's asset management arm. No accelerator, incubation programme or founder credits and perks programme run by Pantomath Capital was found in the sources read for this profile. The practical value is different: merchant banking and capital markets depth, an investor network spanning family offices and institutions, and experience in taking mid-market Indian companies toward listing.
How to apply for funding
There is no open pitch portal for the India Inflection Opportunity Fund in the sources read, and the fund is a closed-ended vehicle that has already closed, so a cold application for a fresh IIOF cheque is unlikely to succeed. The fund's official website lists [email protected] as a contact point, the sensible first route for a serious enquiry about successor or group-level funds. Come with audited financials and a clear path to listing or a large private round. Early-stage founders should approach seed and Series A firms instead, and return to pre-IPO capital only once revenue, margins and governance can stand up to institutional diligence.
Why it matters for founders
Pantomath Capital is pre-IPO growth capital for companies that already work, not discovery capital for ideas that might. If your business is profitable, scaling and IPO-ready, its merchant banking network is a genuine advantage; if you are pre-revenue, look elsewhere first.
