Oman Technology Fund (OTF) is Oman's homegrown venture capital platform, now operating as OTF Scale, the ideation-stage fund of the Oman Future Fund. Its pitch to founders is unusually direct: it writes the first cheque before the product exists, then works alongside founders through incorporation, first hires, first customers and the round that follows. For Omani founders, OTF funding is the earliest institutional capital in the country — the first believer, in the fund's own words.

Investment thesis

OTF Scale underwrites founders rather than traction. It goes earlier than most capital, stays operationally involved while the company is still being built, and judges the team and the problem before any product exists.

The fund is open on sector — fintech, mobility, tourism, agritech, deep tech and health among them — following the founder and the problem rather than a predetermined thesis.

Sectors and stages

OTF Scale invests at ideation and pre-seed stage — the earliest point in the funding ladder. Its heritage structure covers the full journey: OTF Techween for pre-seed funding, co-working space and a three-month coaching programme; the Wadi Accelerator for the acceleration stage; and Jasoor Ventures for growth-stage companies, connecting them with global venture capital.

Fund size and cheque size

OTF Scale's first cheque goes up to 40,000 OMR, released at ideation stage against a first experiment agreed with the founder. No deck, no traction and no company yet is fine.

The wider Oman Technology Fund was reported at launch as a $200 million-plus venture fund, and the Oman Future Fund network is the natural source of follow-on capital once a company is working. The current size of the OTF Scale vehicle itself is not publicly disclosed.

Notable portfolio

OTF Scale lists 41 portfolio companies, every one backed at ideation stage and most before they had a product. They include Tasheel, Sharia-compliant travel-now-pay-later instalments; Kushk, an all-in-one store, point-of-sale and payments platform for Omani merchants; Darrbak, a marketplace for adventure and cultural experiences; Sayyar, bus booking and fleet management; Saree3, a payment gateway for Omani merchants; MedNova, a physiotherapy platform; and YouVerse, digital twins and governed AI agents for banks and factories.

Partners and programmes

Its Bawabat accelerator is a six-month programme giving Omani technology startups access to the Saudi market, run with Al Jabr and Saudi Arabia's National Technology Development Programme.

Beyond capital, OTF Scale provides incorporation, legal, finance, hiring and pricing support in the first 180 days, plus introductions across government and industry in Oman. Credits and perks beyond this support package are not publicly disclosed.

How to apply for funding

Applications to OTF Scale are submitted through the Oman Future Fund platform, where founders complete a short form covering the problem, why they are the team to solve it, and what they would test first — no deck required, in about 15 minutes. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and every applicant gets a reply, with a first response within two weeks for a fit.

Eligibility covers founders building in Oman, founders willing to incorporate there, and Omani founders currently abroad who want to come home to build.

Why it matters for founders

Oman Technology Fund matters because it removes the most common excuse for not starting: no product, no traction, no company yet is genuinely fine. A first cheque of up to 40,000 OMR, 180 days of hands-on support, and a rolling process that answers within two weeks make OTF Scale the most founder-friendly front door in the Gulf for an Omani idea.
