Movens Capital is a Warsaw-based multi-stage venture capital fund that calls itself the launch-pad for CEE founders with global ambitions. Founded in 2018, it backs technology companies from Central and Eastern Europe that are solving global problems, with a particular love for businesses using artificial intelligence and machine learning to revolutionise large, traditional industries. For founders in Poland and the wider CEE region, it offers an investor team of former entrepreneurs who have built and sold companies themselves.
Thesis
Movens Capital invests in tech founders solving global problems who have global ambitions from day one, are building towards €50 million or more in annual recurring revenue, develop products at the frontier of the AI revolution, and create strong competitive moats. It wants companies rooted in CEE, whether through revenue, team or founder story, aiming beyond the region into Europe, the US or beyond.
Sectors & Stages
The firm is a generalist with strong experience in AI, fintech, e-commerce and customer-support solutions, martech, edtech, health, industry 4.0, climate tech, e-commerce infrastructure and the future of work. It invests from pre-seed through Series A+, and likes to see first paying customers even at pre-seed. Its geography covers Poland, the Balkans, the Baltics, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania, plus founders from Ukraine and Moldova and CEE diaspora founders.
Fund & Cheque Size
Movens Capital launched a €60 million second fund to invest in founders from Central and Eastern Europe, backed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, PFR Ventures and more than 80 startup founders, tech operators and seasoned entrepreneurs. Its first fund invested €14 million in 20 startups, which raised over €110 million in follow-on funding, a 9x multiple. Fund II will make around 30 investments, with initial cheques of €250,000 to €3 million and follow-ons of up to €5 million.
Notable Portfolio
Portfolio highlights include Vue Storefront (now Alokai), Packhelp, Talkie.ai, Doctor.one, Demoboost and SKY ENGINE AI, a synthetic-data platform for AI training. Others include Certifier (credentials), Volteum (EV fleets), Cargofy (truck-driver assistant) and Grid.online (transport infrastructure).
Partners & Programs
The team is led by partners Artur Banach, a former founder and CEO of NetSprint, Łukasz Pawłowski, Radosław Rejman, Przemysław Jurgiel-Żyła, Michał Olszewski and Maciej Kraus, an in-house pricing expert and Stanford MBA lecturer. It runs no formal accelerator; its hands-on support includes access to 300+ international funds for follow-ons, 100+ operational experts, pricing-strategy help, and support with sales playbooks, go-to-market planning and C-level hiring.
How to apply for funding
Founders can apply through the "Let's Talk Funding" form on movenscapital.com. Warm introductions are nice but not required, and it always replies, with a quick pass or an invitation to talk. Its process runs from deck review and a first call, usually within a week, through a deep dive into product, technology and market, to an investment-committee decision and term sheet. It also welcomes early conversations long before a round is planned.
Why it matters for founders
Movens Capital is a strong match for CEE founders building AI-led companies with global ambition. With a €60 million second fund, cheques of €250,000 to €3 million and a team of ex-operators, it offers early capital plus the network to raise internationally.
