The JITO Incubation & Innovation Foundation (JIIF) has quietly become one of the most prolific early-stage investors in the country. In the last two years alone, the platform has deployed more than Rs 150 crore across over 100 pre-seed and seed-stage startups, while logging upwards of 15 exits in the same period, according to its official statement reported by Moneycontrol in April 2026.
The thesis: founder-first, beyond capital
JIIF describes itself as a founder-first investment platform that goes beyond capital. Chairman Jeenendra Bhandari says its partnerships with platforms such as Startup Singham and Lead to Unicorn help it access high-quality deal flow. The foundation is backed by more than 750 members of the JITO business community, giving portfolio founders a deep network of established business families to draw on for customers, mentors and follow-on capital. Founded in 2017, JIIF straddles incubation and investing — it mentors as well as funds.
Sectors and stages
JIIF invests at pre-seed and seed. Its portfolio mix, reported by YourStory, spans AI and deeptech (15%), consumer and D2C (25%), health (15%), fintech (15–20%), and mobility and sustainability (20%). Named portfolio companies include Aten Porus, Elixia, Zintlr, DTown Robotics, Nautical Wings, BatX, S3V, Stroom, Snackible and Elefant, operating across SaaS, defence tech, mobility, sustainability, health tech and D2C. JIIF also led the $1.25 million pre-Series A round of deeptech startup Twyn alongside ah! Ventures, and has backed RawRX (Blueday Living) and Nautical Wings Aerospace. Inc42's records additionally list bets such as Almonds Ai, CUR8, Ecowrap and Flo Mobility.
Fund size and cheque size
JIIF has not publicly disclosed a single fund corpus — it operates as an investment platform rather than a classic closed-end fund. What is on record: Rs 150+ crore deployed across 100+ startups in two years, a stated plan to invest Rs 80–100 crore more over the next 12–18 months, backing 20–25 startups a year with typical cheques of Rs 1.5–2 crore. In a notable strategic move, JIIF put Rs 26.5 crore into Mumbai-based Atomic Capital, signalling a fund-of-funds strategy that sits alongside its direct startup investing and widens its access to opportunities.
Partners and programmes
The platform is led by chairman Jeenendra Bhandari. JIIF is now preparing an APAC accelerator spanning India, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, focused on AI, fintech, climate, mobility and digital infrastructure — a programme founders should watch for cohort announcements. Its sourcing partnerships with Startup Singham and Lead to Unicorn remain the main curated pipelines into the platform.
How to apply for funding
Founders can reach JIIF through its official website, jiif.jito.org, which carries the foundation's application and contact routes. Warm introductions through the JITO community network, or through its sourcing partners Startup Singham and Lead to Unicorn, are the other practical routes in. (The JIIF site could not be fetched at the time of writing, so confirm the current application form on the site before applying.)
Why it matters for founders
JIIF is one of the few investors in India writing Rs 1.5–2 crore cheques at pre-seed with a 100-startup track record and 15+ exits — a strong fit if you are early, capital-efficient, and can put a deep business-family network to work.
