Jeito Capital is a Paris-based private equity firm dedicated to clinical-stage biopharma, founded by Rafaèle Tordjman and launched in 2020. It exists for a specific kind of founder: a team with a therapy already in the clinic, facing the expensive, high-stakes years between promising early data and a product that can reach patients at scale.
Thesis and focus
The thesis is patient benefit first and commercial scale second, in that order. Jeito Capital backs biotech companies developing treatments for severe diseases with high unmet need, and it supports them through late clinical development, manufacturing preparation and market access. Its stated therapeutic interests for its second fund include obesity, reproductive medicine, oncology, autoimmune disorders, neurology and cardio-metabolic diseases.
Sectors and stages
Jeito Capital invests primarily in clinical-stage biopharma companies, principally based in Europe with global reach, and it also backs companies in the United States. For Jeito II, the firm plans to support 15 to 20 companies, investing up to €150 million in a single company over time, a scale that allows it to lead or co-lead large rounds and to follow on as trials progress.
Fund size
Jeito I closed in 2021 at €534 million, above its original €500 million target, and was then described as the largest European fund dedicated to life sciences. Jeito II closed in 2026 at more than €1 billion, reported as about $1.2 billion, taking the firm's assets under management to about €1.6 billion.
Notable portfolio
The portfolio's exits are unusually strong for a young firm. Neogene Therapeutics, its first investment, was acquired by AstraZeneca in 2022 for up to $320 million. EyeBio was acquired by Merck in 2024 for up to $3 billion, including $1.3 billion upfront. Hi-Bio was acquired by Biogen in 2024 for up to $1.8 billion.
Partners and leads
Rafaèle Tordjman, a medical doctor and former Sofinnova Partners life-sciences investor, founded and leads the firm as founder and chief executive. Other managing partners named in its early history include Sabine Dandiguian and Rachel Mears.
Programs, credits and perks
Jeito Capital does not run a public accelerator or a founder credits programme. Its equivalent of a programme is continuity: the same integrated team supporting a company from one financing to the next, helping with clinical, regulatory, manufacturing and commercial decisions.
How to apply for funding from Jeito Capital
Jeito Capital does not publish an open application portal or a rolling programme deadline. The route stated on its own materials is through its website, jeito.life, where the firm lists [email protected] as a contact address. Given the stage and cheque size, most successful approaches will come through scientific advisers, specialist biotech investors or bankers who already know the team. A first message should lead with the clinical data, the unmet need, the trial design ahead and the capital required to reach the next value inflection point.
Why it matters for founders
For clinical-stage biopharma founders, Jeito Capital offers rare scale in Europe: up to €150 million per company, deep therapeutic expertise and a record of large pharmaceutical exits. It is a partner for the expensive middle of drug development, not for an idea without clinical evidence.
