iStart Rajasthan is the flagship startup programme of the Department of Information Technology and Communication, Government of Rajasthan. Built on the premise that incubation should be free, it offers eligible startups funding, workspace, mentorship and market linkages through a single-window portal, and it is one of India's largest state-run startup ecosystems.

Thesis

iStart Rajasthan exists to remove every hurdle between an innovator and an enterprise. The programme provides free workspace, high-speed connectivity, computer hardware, mentorship and market linkages, so that early-stage innovators get infrastructure and exposure without financial barriers. It is sector-agnostic and covers private limited companies, limited liability partnerships and partnership firms with turnover up to INR 25 crore.

Sectors & Stages

iStart Rajasthan supports startups from idea and prototype stage through seed stage, across sectors including agritech, edtech and fintech. Its QRate startup rating evaluates companies from Bronze to Signature, and its iStart Nest incubators anchor the ecosystem in Jaipur and across the state's districts, with a deliberate push into tier-II cities such as Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota and Bikaner.

Fund & Cheque Size

Financial support is staged. At the idea and prototype stage, assistance of up to INR 2.4 lakh is provided, rising to INR 3 lakh for women-led startups. At the seed stage, support of up to INR 60 lakh may be extended, with loan assistance of up to INR 2 crore and equity support of up to INR 5 crore. The Bhamashah Startup Promotion Fund carries a corpus of INR 500 crore to support the ecosystem. Through its e-Marketplace facility, registered startups can receive direct government work orders of up to INR 25 lakh, and 168 work orders worth over INR 30 crore have already been issued.

Notable Portfolio

iStart Rajasthan is a programme rather than a fund, so it has no portfolio in the venture sense. Its scale is the story: more than 7,100 startups have registered on the platform, collectively raising over INR 1,000 crore in investments and creating more than 42,500 jobs, according to the Chief Minister's statement reported by The Times of India. Its incubator network includes the Techno Hub in Jaipur, the largest startup hub in the country with over 700 startups across 150,000 square feet of incubation space.

Partners & Programs

The programme's flagship components include iStart Nest incubation centres in Jaipur, Bharatpur, Udaipur, Kota, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Pali and Churu, offering over 2,000 seats, plus a Virtual Incubation Program for startups across the state. It runs 65 iStart Launchpad Nests in 33 districts for students, a School Startup Programme with more than 1.16 lakh student registrations, and an expanding Atal Innovation Programme covering AVGC-XR, coding, robotics and agritech. Boot camps help founders improve products, strategies and business plans before evaluation.

How to apply for funding

Startups register on the iStart portal, which serves as a one-stop gateway for recognition, upskilling, mentoring, funding support and incentive delivery, with onboarding through the Rajasthan single sign-on system. Founders should register, complete the QRate evaluation, and apply for the relevant stage of support, from idea-stage assistance to seed funding and incubation at an iStart Nest centre.

Why it matters for founders

iStart Rajasthan is one of the most founder-friendly public programmes in India: free incubation, staged grants up to INR 60 lakh at seed stage, and direct government work orders that give young companies a predictable revenue channel.
