ISAI funding comes from what the firm calls "the French Tech entrepreneurs' fund" — a Paris-based fund manager co-founded in 2009 by and for tech entrepreneurs, now counting 500+ entrepreneur-LPs alongside institutional investors. Across four strategies, ISAI manages nearly €1.1 billion, and its new ISAI Venture IV fund reached its first closing in December 2025 at 75% of its €100M target. If you want capital with an operator's edge and a belief that "creativity is greater under constraint", ISAI deserves a look.
Thesis & focus
ISAI positions itself as a sparring partner for talented founders. Its motto, festina lente — hasten slowly — captures a contrarian conviction: you don't need enormous sums to build a product, test a market and validate a model; constraint sharpens creativity. For ISAI Venture IV, the fund screens for four traits in "future French Tech champions": strong but progressive ambition, a capital-efficient model (especially SaaS and marketplaces), a "blue ocean" strategy, and the ability to become true market leaders. ISAI is also a UNPRI signatory committed to inclusive, low-carbon technology, with Venture IV classified Article 8 under SFDR.
Sectors & stages
ISAI runs four strategies. ISAI Venture covers early-stage venture: pre-seed to post-seed and Series A for digital startups — SaaS, marketplaces and AI — writing €100k–€3M cheques and leading or co-leading first financings, including a 10% "super angel" pre-seed pocket of €100k–€500k. Over 80% of Venture IV investments will be in France, the rest backing French-founded startups abroad, especially in the US. ISAI Cap Venture (with Capgemini) and ISAI Build Venture (with Bouygues) are corporate-venture strategies for Series A and beyond in SaaS, enterprise software and decarbonising construction and mobility. ISAI Expansion handles tech buyout and tech growth — profitable companies with at least €10M revenue and €2M EBITDA, or 25–30% annual growth — at €10–50M per ticket.
Fund size & cheque size
Publicly stated figures: ISAI Venture IV targets €100M (first closing December 2025 at 75%); ISAI Venture III closed in 2020 at a €90M first closing with a €120M maximum; ISAI Expansion III closed at a €300M hard cap, double its predecessor, for 12–15 companies; ISAI Cap Venture I is €90M and Cap Venture II with Capgemini (April 2025) is €80M. Across all strategies, ISAI manages nearly €1.1 billion.
ISAI funding: notable portfolio
The early-stage portfolio includes French Tech heavyweights Blablacar, Malt, 360Learning, Alma, Platform.sh, Datadome, Evaneos and Prose, plus newer names like Flowdesk, Kestra and Koyeb. On the buyout/growth side, ISAI Expansion has supported 20 companies since 2013 with 12 exits, including Labelium, aDvens, Theodo and Hospimedia.
Partners & team
Jean-David Chamboredon is Executive Chairman and co-founder, joined by General Partners Jean-Patrice Anciaux and François Collet on the Venture side and Nicolas Martineau on the Expansion side. The founding team also included serial entrepreneurs such as Pierre Kosciusko-Morizet of PriceMinister and Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux — a founder DNA that still shapes the culture.
How to apply for funding
ISAI publishes no public pitch form, application portal or pitch email, so there is no official "apply" button. The honest route is a warm introduction through the firm's 500+ entrepreneur-LP community — founders backing founders — or a direct approach via the contact details on the official site. Come with a capital-efficient SaaS or marketplace model and a blue-ocean story.
Why it matters for founders
ISAI is capital with founder DNA: nearly €1.1 billion under management, 500+ entrepreneur-LPs, and a €100k–€3M early-stage cheque range — an ideal sparring partner if you are building a capital-efficient SaaS or marketplace business.
