Hero Electronix funding comes with a decade-long time horizon. The company is the Hero Group's technology investment platform - set up in 2015 as the Munjal family's vehicle into technology - and it describes itself as an evergreen platform with patient capital, working alongside founders and management teams as a long-term shareholder. Its thesis: globally competitive businesses can be built out of India at the intersection of hardware, software and AI. It backs engineering-led, IP-driven businesses in semiconductors, AI in the physical world, intelligent hardware, design-led manufacturing and strategic electronics.
The flagship bet is Tessolve Semiconductor, which Hero Electronix acquired in 2016 and remains the parent of. Tessolve's arc shows the model at work: revenue grew from $25 million in FY16 to more than $150 million in FY25, reaching Rs 1,526 crore in FY26 with a target of over Rs 2,000 crore in FY27. It has raised $150 million from TPG (September 2025), $75 million from Vector Line Capital (October 2026) and $40 million from Novo Tellus (2021), and acquired Germany's Dream Chip Technologies outright for Rs 400 crore in November 2024.
Portfolio and leadership
Beyond Tessolve, the portfolio includes Qubo, the AI-led consumer technology brand launched in September 2019 (smart-home devices and home automation), and Zenatix, the enterprise IoT company acquired in 2018. Earlier moves include the 2015 acquisition of set-top-box maker MyBox Technologies. Across the businesses, Hero Electronix cites over $100 million in annual revenue and more than 2,000 engineers. Leadership sits with founder Ujjwal Munjal - who is also chairman of Tessolve - and chairman Suman Kant Munjal.
What Hero Electronix funding looks like
There is no published fund size - it is a corporate platform, not a fund - and standard cheque sizes are not publicly disclosed. The model is majority, buy-and-build investing rather than minority venture cheques: Hero Electronix takes meaningful stakes, backs acquisitions (Tessolve's own purchase of Dream Chip is the template), and holds for the long term. In 2019 the company said it was working with a $100 million investment outlay; current deployment scale runs well beyond that. It operates no accelerator and no startup perks programme - the value-add is patient capital plus the Hero Group's operating muscle.
How to apply for funding
Hero Electronix publishes no startup pitch form, but its website heroelectronix.com carries an 'Interested?' contact section for founders and partners to reach the team. Given the buy-and-build model, revenue-generating technology businesses in its five focus sectors are the realistic fit - not idea-stage pitches.
Why it matters for founders
Hero Electronix is one of the few Indian corporate platforms writing big, patient cheques into hard tech - semiconductors, intelligent hardware and AI in the physical world. If your business is engineering-led with real revenue, this is evergreen capital that will stay through the cycles.
