Galvanize Climate Solutions is a climate-focused global investment firm founded by Katie Hall and Tom Steyer. Its model deliberately spans asset classes: venture capital and growth equity, public equities and real estate, integrating investment, climate impact, market development, talent, technology and policy expertise under one roof.
The thesis is that the climate transition is the defining investment opportunity of the decade, and that capital alone is not enough. Galvanize takes an interdisciplinary approach across the full cycle of an investment, offering portfolio companies priority customer introductions, talent recruitment and regulatory analysis and guidance, with a portfolio services team drawn from institutions including ARPA-E, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and the White House Council on Environmental Quality.
Sectors span electricity, transport, industry, buildings, agriculture and carbon removal. Stages run from venture and growth equity through to real estate and credit. Its first venture and growth equity fund, the Innovation + Expansion Fund, closed in 2023 at over $1 billion, having already invested in 11 companies. A standard cheque size is not publicly disclosed, but the fund's scale and its later strategies show it operates from growth-stage equity to large project finance.
Notable portfolio companies include Alcemy, which makes lower-carbon cement and concrete; Arable, agricultural data and analytics; Octopus Energy, the global clean energy technology business; Quilt, smart home climate systems; Crusoe, which pairs AI workloads with novel energy sources; VEIR, high-temperature superconducting transmission; X-Energy, advanced small modular reactors; Regrow, agricultural supply-chain decarbonisation; and Watershed and Zhero in carbon and clean energy project development.
Programmes and strategies run beyond venture: a real estate strategy reported in 2026 has deployed $370 million across 15 buildings in 11 US cities, covering about 2.4 million square feet, using solar, electrification, efficiency retrofits and smart energy management to cut emissions while raising building value. A credit and capital solutions strategy reported in September 2025 extends the firm into financing electrification, efficiency, renewable manufacturing and grid and storage projects.
How to apply for funding
There is no public application portal. Galvanize sources deals through its investment team and network, so the real route is a direct approach through the contact routes on galvanizeclimate.com, or a warm introduction via a portfolio company, a co-investor or a climate-policy contact. For Indian founders, the strongest pitch quantifies abatement and unit economics together: show the tonnes avoided, the customer contract and the path to commercial scale, because Galvanize backs companies that can reach scale, not pilots that stay pilots.
Why it matters for founders
For Indian climate founders, Galvanize is unusually complete: it can fund the company, finance the project and open the policy door. If your solution cuts emissions and makes money doing it, lead with both numbers in the same pitch.
