Galaxy Interactive is the games-focused venture arm of Galaxy Digital, the diversified digital-asset and blockchain financial services firm founded by Mike Novogratz. With more than $650 million in assets under management across two funds, it has been described as the biggest fund dedicated to games — a stage-agnostic investor backing companies at the intersection of content, finance and technology since 2018.

Investment thesis

Galaxy Interactive invests in what it calls the "interactive" sector: the intersection of content, finance and technology. General partner Sam Englebardt describes this as the belief that younger generations are moving en masse from the physical to the digital world, where digital identity and ownership are as important as the real world. The firm was early to the view that gaming and digital objects — what we now call NFTs — would be the biggest opportunity for blockchain technology to scale, and it has been among the most active video-game and blockchain investors in the world. Its remit spans video games, digital media, immersive virtual worlds, web3 and cutting-edge technology.

Sectors and stage

The firm is explicitly stage-agnostic, investing from early rounds through growth. Its second fund — a $325 million raise from 70 investors including institutional investors, endowments, strategic investors and family offices — focused on virtual and augmented reality, artificial intelligence and blockchain-based games. Reported cheque sizes run from around $1 million to $10 million, varying by project. Geographically it is US-headquartered (New York) with a global investment mandate.

Notable portfolio

Galaxy Interactive has invested in more than 100 companies. Its gaming portfolio includes Mythical Games, 1047 Games (the studio behind Splitgate), Elodie Games, AccelByte (multiplayer backend), Avia Games, Bad Robot Games, Build a Rocket Boy, Genvid, Playable Worlds, GreenPark Sports, Immutable and NEKCOM. Beyond pure games it has backed Republic, Art Blocks, Masterworks, Current and StockX — reflecting its content-finance-technology crossover thesis.

Partners

Galaxy Interactive was established in 2018 by general partners Sam Englebardt and Richard Kim, who lead the interactive fund. The division sits inside Galaxy Digital's asset management arm, with Novogratz as the parent company's founder and CEO. The broader team includes investment professionals such as Ryan You, who has led deals including the NEKCOM Series A.

How to apply for funding from Galaxy Interactive

Galaxy Interactive does not run an open application portal. The route in is through the firm's own channels: the fund maintains its own site and team page, and it sits within Galaxy Digital's wider network, so warm introductions — ideally from portfolio founders or from operators in the interactive-media and crypto ecosystems — are the practical path. Because the firm is stage-agnostic but thesis-led, founders should frame their pitch around the intersection of content, finance and technology rather than as a straight games pitch, and come prepared to explain how digital ownership or networked community dynamics drive their business.

Why it matters for founders

With over $650 million under management and a portfolio of 100+ companies, Galaxy Interactive is one of the largest specialist pools of games capital in the world — and its stage-agnostic mandate means it can back founders from first cheque through growth.
