Eversource Capital is a Mumbai-based climate-focused investment firm building large climate-positive platforms in India. It is best known as the manager of the Green Growth Equity Fund (GGEF), and its portfolio reads like a map of India's energy transition: renewable power, electric mobility, waste, water and green finance.

Thesis: build platforms, not just back companies

Eversource Capital invests in and builds digitally enabled, rapidly scalable climate-positive businesses and platforms. Its stated focus spans renewable energy, energy efficiency, e-mobility, resource conservation, waste and water management, and associated value chains. It has even incubated platforms itself, notably GreenCell Mobility in 2019.

Sectors and stages

The firm operates at growth and platform scale, not pre-seed or seed. Its sectors are utility-scale and distributed renewable energy, electric mobility as a service, waste-to-energy and resource management, water and wastewater, and climate finance. Founders should therefore approach Eversource Capital only with operating assets, contracted revenue, or a credible platform path.

Fund size and cheque size

Eversource Capital closed its maiden climate impact fund, the Green Growth Equity Fund (GGEF), at $741 million, as reported by VCCircle at final close. The fund was anchored by the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) and the UK government's Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). No standard cheque range is publicly disclosed; deal history points to platform-scale investments, including a reported 76.93% stake in Lithium Urban Technologies and a 46.98% stake in Ecofy.

Notable portfolio

Ayana Renewable Power, incorporated in 2017, develops utility-scale renewable energy projects across India. Radiance Renewables, incorporated in 2018, develops, owns and operates distributed renewable projects for commercial and industrial customers. GreenCell Mobility runs intercity electric bus brand NueGo and, according to Eversource Capital's portfolio page, operated 1,167 buses as of December 2025. EverEnviro Resource Management is a waste management platform, Kathari Water Management works in water and wastewater assets, and Ecofy is a climate finance non-banking financial company lending for rooftop solar and electric two- and three-wheelers.

Partners and programmes

Eversource Capital is an equal joint venture between the Everstone Group and Lightsource bp, a global solar developer — a pairing that explains its mix of Indian operating expertise and renewable-energy know-how. It runs no public accelerator cohort; its value-add is platform-building, project finance relationships, and operating support.

Credits and perks

No public startup credits or perks programme is offered by Eversource Capital. Founders should not expect cloud credits or marketplace perks here; the benefit of this investor is capital at platform scale, sector expertise, and access to partners across energy, mobility and infrastructure.

How to apply for funding

There is no public open application form for GGEF. Founders with a platform-scale climate business should approach Eversource Capital directly through the contact route on its official website, with a concise deck covering operating assets, contracted offtake or customers, unit economics, and the capital needed to scale. Warm introductions via NIIF, development finance partners, or energy-sector advisers are the realistic route in.

Why it matters for founders

If you are building climate infrastructure at scale in India, Eversource Capital is one of the few investors designed for exactly that job. If you are still proving a product, look elsewhere first — and come back with traction.
