Emami funding is corporate venture capital at FMCG scale. The Kolkata-based FMCG major has, since 2017, built a deliberate strategic-investments engine to buy, scale and integrate high-potential Indian consumer brands - and the engine is now the company's fastest growth driver. In Q1FY27 (the June 2026 quarter), the strategic investments portfolio contributed 18% of domestic sales - Rs 160 crore - growing 61% like-for-like. Chairman R.S. Goenka's stated target: around 16% of turnover in FY27, rising to approximately 25% by FY30.

The playbook is consistent: take a strategic minority stake, then move to control. It began with The Man Company in 2017 (100% acquired in July 2024) and Brillare in 2018 (100% acquired in March 2024), followed by strategic investments in TruNativ and FurBall Story in 2022, a juice-segment entry through Alofrut (Axiom Ayurveda) in 2023-24 - moved to full ownership in the June 2026 quarter - and the headline 2026 deal: a 60% stake in IncNut Digital, the parent of personalised beauty brands Vedix and SkinKraft, for Rs 321 crore.

The IncNut deal and the portfolio math

The IncNut acquisition, announced in May 2026, is Emami's sixth D2C acquisition in recent years and its biggest disclosed startup cheque: Rs 321 crore for 60%, with the remaining 40% to be acquired over the next four-and-a-half years in two tranches at performance-linked valuations. IncNut - founded in 2011 by Chaitanya Nallan, built on data-driven diagnostics and customised formulations - posted Rs 175 crore in FY25 sales. Vice-chairman & MD Harsha Vardhan Agarwal says the goal is to scale the broader digital portfolio to nearly Rs 3,000 crore over five years. Earlier, The Man Company was contributing around Rs 180 crore in FY24 revenue and was EBITDA-positive.

What Emami funding looks like

Emami publishes no standard startup cheque range - deals are negotiated per brand, from early strategic stakes to control acquisitions. What founders get is distinctive: patient capital from a listed FMCG major, access to Emami's marketing and R&D teams, distribution muscle (including its Zanducare D2C portal), and a governance framework built for scaling founder-led brands. The strategic intent, in the chairman's own letter: combine 'the entrepreneurial energy of these brands with Emami's strategic acumen'. There is no accelerator or credits programme; the 'programme' is the portfolio itself.

How to apply for funding

Emami publishes no dedicated founder-pitch form or startup email - its strategic investments are typically sourced through the company's corporate network. Founders can reach the company through the contact channels on emamiltd.in. A warm route via its investment bankers or the founder networks of its portfolio brands (The Man Company, Vedix) is the realistic path in.

Why it matters for founders

Emami is one of India's most active strategic acquirers of consumer brands, with a portfolio already at 18% of domestic sales and a 25%-by-FY30 target. If you are building a D2C brand in beauty, wellness, grooming or food, Emami offers a credible path from minority stake to full acquisition - with the distribution to match.
