b2venture funding comes with something most VCs cannot offer: a standing army of more than 350 experienced angel investors who co-invest, open doors and lend operating expertise alongside the fund. b2venture — the firm formerly known as btov Partners — is a St. Gallen-anchored European venture firm that calls itself a multi-generational company: founders it backs are invited to become angels for the next generation.
Thesis
The firm’s pitch is “backing the unique, the mavericks, the outliers”. It invests at the earliest stages in the best ideas and brightest minds, powered by what it calls the power of generations: successful founders return as angel investors, passing capital, experience and networks forward. The model is dual-track — a dedicated fund for early-stage rounds and a direct investment track for later stages, both supercharged by the angel community.
Sectors & stage
Two dedicated strategies. The Digital Tech Fund covers AI, SaaS, fintech, logistics, digital health and marketplaces; the Industrial Technologies Fund (an €80 million vehicle) targets deep tech, industry 4.0, industrial AI, IoT, cyber security and medtech. Stages run from pre-seed to Series B and beyond, with heavy follow-on support — the firm stayed with DeepL, SumUp and Raisin from the earliest stages, and backed Facebook, SpaceX and Volocopter at later stages.
Fund size & cheque size
In January 2026 the firm reached the €150 million hard cap for b2venture Fund V, which it expects to deploy across roughly 35 entrepreneurial teams. Cheque sizes are not published as a firm-wide policy; the honest line is that exact ticket ranges are not publicly disclosed, though the fund’s sizing implies low-single-digit millions of euros per initial bet.
Notable portfolio
The track record is among Europe’s strongest: DeepL, SumUp, Raisin, 1KOMMA5°, Urban Sports Club, Nelly, Araris Biotech and Neura Robotics. Recent deals show the pace: The Exploration Company raised $450 million (September 2026); 1KOMMA5° raised €70 million in a round led by b2venture, Procuros raised a €20 million Series A, and Ambio raised €5.1 million (all October 2026).
Partners
Florian Schweitzer, founding partner, co-founded the firm in 2000 and has led it throughout its history; Jan-Hendrik Bürk is a partner. The leadership team blends serial founders, former operators and top-tier consulting backgrounds, with deep expertise in deep tech and enterprise software.
Programs & perks
There is no formal accelerator — the “perk” is the architecture. Every investment is made in collaboration with the 350+ angel community: founders, operators and industry leaders contributing capital and domain expertise at every stage. The firm also manages bespoke partner funds for corporates and family offices; it deployed more than €126 million in 2022 alone.
How to get funding from b2venture
There is no open application portal; founders reach the team through the contact channels on btov.vc / b2venture.vc. In practice, the angel network is the warmest route in — an introduction from one of the firm’s 350+ angels to the Berlin, Munich, Luxembourg or St. Gallen team carries real weight. Come with a genuinely outlier ambition; the name says what they are hunting.
Why it matters for founders
b2venture is another name you will almost never see on a list of angel investors in India — yet its model is the one Indian founders should copy: build a network of exited founders who recycle capital and wisdom into the next generation. If you are building deep tech or B2B software with European ambitions, their angel-led door is worth knocking on.
