Astir Ventures is an early-stage venture capital firm with feet in three ecosystems — Silicon Valley, Hyderabad and New Jersey. Founded in 2014 and operating with a compact 6–10 person team, it backs early-stage companies it describes as "shaping the future by creating a positive disruption in the industries they operate in". (Not to be confused with Astarc Ventures, the Mumbai-based corporate VC arm of the Astarc Group — a different firm entirely.)

The thesis: partnerships beyond the cap table

Astir's stated philosophy is "partnerships beyond the cap table": it provides both venture capital and mentoring support, helping founders with follow-on fundraising and strategic planning. Its investment methodologies are designed to be agile and nimble, and the team works closely with portfolio companies rather than taking a spray-and-pray approach. The firm is a verified investor on the BEAMSTART platform and says it is constantly searching for the next generation of change-makers and thought leaders.

Sectors and stages

Astir invests at early stage across multiple countries and sectors, with a visible tilt towards AI infrastructure, SaaS, fintech, healthtech and consumer. Its recent activity centres on Indian-origin founders building for global markets: it participated in AI infrastructure startup Pipeshift's $2.5 million seed round in January 2025, alongside Y Combinator, SenseAI Ventures, Arka Venture Labs, Good News Ventures, Nivesha Ventures, GradCapital and MyAsiaVC. Partner Kishore Ganji also participated in the pre-seed round of fertility-care startup Janani, led by 9Unicorns.

Partners

The firm was founded by Srilalitha Bhattaram. Co-founder Kishore Kumar Ganji — a two-decade IT and services veteran (ex-PwC, IBM, Pfizer) — is an active super-angel with 27 investments across fintech, healthtech, SaaS and consumer, an executive with Hyderabad Angels, an advisor to GetVantage, and a former board member at Innovapptive. His dual role across Astir and Hyderabad Angels gives portfolio founders access to a wide angel network.

Fund size

Astir Ventures has not publicly disclosed a fund corpus.

How to apply for funding

Astir runs no public application portal. The practical routes are a warm introduction to the partners — co-founder Kishore Ganji is reachable through the Hyderabad Angels network — or through the investor profiles the firm maintains on platforms such as BEAMSTART and AskForFunding.

Why it matters for founders

Astir is worth knowing if you are an Indian founder building for global markets: a cross-border early-stage VC with real Silicon Valley presence, a hands-on mentoring style, and partners plugged into the Hyderabad angel ecosystem for follow-on support.
