Naukri parent Info Edge (India) has approved an investment of approximately ₹150 crore in its wholly owned subsidiary Redstart Labs, its board decided at a meeting on 28 October 2026. The money will go in through an equity subscription over the next 18 months, in one or more tranches, to meet working capital requirements, investment opportunities and general corporate purposes.
Exits alongside the investment
Alongside the investment, the board approved the sale of its entire stakes in two investee companies through its subsidiary Startup Investments (Holding) Limited: 14.18% in healthtech startup Medcords and 31.64% in employment platform Unnati Online. Inc42 reports the stakes are being sold for about ₹5,000 each, after both investments had been fully impaired in earlier years — Medcords in FY24 and Unnati Online in FY20.
Redstart Labs is Info Edge's deeptech-focused investment arm. It reported a loss after tax of ₹2.99 crore in FY26 and net worth of ₹76.93 crore, with nil turnover, according to the company's disclosures cited in reporting of the board meeting.
The same board meeting covered results and leadership: Inc42 reports Info Edge's Q2 FY27 net profit jumped 87% year on year to about ₹650 crore, and founder Sanjeev Bikhchandani will take over as executive vice chairman, MD and group CEO from 3 December 2026, succeeding Hitesh Oberoi, who steps down from his operational role on 2 December after nearly 27 years in a full-time executive role.
Why it matters for founders
This is portfolio housekeeping with a signal attached: fresh capital goes to the deeptech investment arm while two fully impaired bets are closed out. For founders, the lesson is blunt — follow-on capital follows arms that can still deploy, and impaired positions eventually get exited, however small the exit cheque.
