ideaForge Technology has launched two new variants of its multi-role tactical UAV platform, ZOLT — the ZOLT Hybrid and ZOLT Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV) — marking its entry into the long-range ISR and UCAV segments.

The battery-powered ZOLT UCAV is built for tactical missions and precision effects, with 2–3 hours of endurance, 30–50 km line-of-sight transmission and launch altitude up to 4,500 m AMSL. The ZOLT Hybrid combines an IC engine with battery power for extended missions and persistent overwatch: 6+ hours of endurance and up to 100 km transmission, launching from up to 2,000 m AMSL.

At the core is ideaForge's indigenous EW-resilient technology stack — anti-jam communications, GNSS-denied navigation and onboard intelligence — designed for day-and-night operations across varied terrain and altitudes in electronic-warfare-contested environments. A high-altitude variant (launch up to 4,000 m AMSL) is also planned.

The launch expands ZOLT from a surveillance-oriented system into a broader tactical UAV family spanning persistent ISTAR to precision effects — and signals how fast India's private drone industry is moving up the capability curve.

Why it matters for founders

ideaForge's ZOLT family shows the defence-tech playbook working: indigenous EW resilience as the core IP, a platform architecture that spawns variants, and a roadmap toward high-altitude ops. For deeptech founders, the lesson is to build the hard technology moat first — procurement follows capability, not the other way around.
