IBM and MeitY Startup Hub (MSH) — an initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology — have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to accelerate India's deeptech startup ecosystem through technology access, mentorship, skilling support and enterprise engagement opportunities.
The partnership pairs MeitY Startup Hub's nationwide innovation network with IBM's expertise in artificial intelligence, hybrid cloud and quantum computing. Startups will get access to IBM's enterprise technology portfolio and innovation platforms — including technical guidance on IBM watsonx, the company's enterprise AI and data platform, IBM Bob, an AI coding agent for enterprises, and IBM Sovereign Core, an AI-ready software stack built for digital sovereignty — plus exposure to hybrid cloud, quantum computing, security and automation solutions.
"India's startup ecosystem is emerging as a global engine for technology innovation. Through this collaboration with IBM, we aim to strengthen indigenous deep tech capabilities, foster technology-led entrepreneurship and create greater opportunity for innovators to build solutions that contribute to a Viksit Bharat," said Dr Panneerselvam Madanagopal, CEO of MeitY Startup Hub.
Sandip Patel, Managing Director of IBM India and South Asia, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to fostering innovation and strengthening India's deeptech landscape.
Why it matters for founders
Government-corporate MoUs are often dismissed as photo-ops — but enterprise tech access (watsonx, quantum, hybrid cloud) is precisely the capital deeptech startups can't buy early. If you're building AI infrastructure or quantum-adjacent products, get into these corridors: technology credits and enterprise pilot access can be worth more than a seed cheque.
