The round

Bengaluru-based conversational AI startup Hunar.AI has raised ₹40 crore in a Series A round led by Blume Ventures, the company announced on October 20, 2026, taking its total funding to ₹65 crore.

The round saw participation from Hyderabad Angels Fund, Together Fund, Seedstars, AVNM Ventures, PhysicsWallah co-founders Prateek Maheshwari and Alakh Pandey, and MediaMint co-founder Aditya Vuchi.

What it does

Founded in 2022 by Krishna Khandelwal and Shantanu Bhattacharyya, Hunar builds conversational AI agents — Hunar Voice and Hunar Connect — that manage frontline workforce workflows over voice, WhatsApp and chat: candidate sourcing and screening, interview scheduling, onboarding, training, engagement and retention. The company will use the funds to build AI infrastructure, develop products and expand go-to-market, with an eye on international markets including the Middle East, Latin America and Southeast Asia — a sign that startup funding in India is increasingly backing AI products built for global frontline workforces.

Why it matters for founders

Hunar is selling outcomes (hired, onboarded, retained workers), not chatbots — and enterprises pay for outcomes. For AI founders, the lesson is to price against the HR budget you replace, not the API cost you incur; the margin lives in that gap.
