The firm
HealthQuad is India's dedicated healthcare innovation fund, founded in 2016 and headquartered in New Delhi. It was incubated as Quadria Group's early-growth vehicle for technology-led healthcare, and after a 2025 separation from its original co-backer, Belgium-based impact investor KOIS, it is now fully owned by the Quadria Group and managed by HealthQuad Advisors. The platform brings a claimed 200+ years of combined global healthcare and consumer experience to the table.
Thesis and sweet spot
HealthQuad's thesis starts from a blunt reality: India's healthcare demand is surging while infrastructure remains inadequate and skewed toward urban areas. Its answer is to focus on micro markets and build customised, technology-led solutions that improve the efficiency of business models — with an emphasis on disease prevention, quality of care, and healthcare financing.
The current HealthQuad Fund III is hunting across AI-driven healthcare, digital therapeutics, ambulatory care, enterprise SaaS and point-of-care devices — predominantly in India, with a discretionary share for Southeast Asia. It plans 13–15 investments, and has already made its first bet on LifeSigns, an AI-powered patient-monitoring platform.
Fund size
Fund III announced a first close of Rs 550 crore (~$58.2 million), with a target corpus of Rs 1,700 crore (~$180 million) and a greenshoe option that could take it to Rs 2,500 crore. It follows a Rs 75 crore maiden fund and a $162 million second fund. Across its first two funds HealthQuad has backed 18 startups — and says it has already returned capital to investors through exits.
Notable portfolio
The portfolio reads like a who's-who of Indian healthtech: Qure.ai (AI diagnostics), Wysa (mental-health AI), Redcliffe Labs, Medikabazaar (B2B medical supplies), Ekincare, GoApptiv, Cureskin, Strand Life Sciences, THB, HealthifyMe, ImpactGuru, Stanplus, Beato, Neurosynaptic (telemedicine), Regency Healthcare and AINU (the Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology).
People
The fund is led by Amit Varma, Abrar Mir and Sunil Thakur, with Rahul Agarwal and Namit Chugh joining the leadership, and Charles-Antoine Janssen as Managing Partner. It is a team of healthcare operators as much as investors.
What founders get beyond capital
HealthQuad's pitch is that it brings more than money: clinical insights, a rich healthcare ecosystem, advocacy in government and policy-making, strategic and operating healthcare experience, and access to influencers across the global healthcare ecosystem. Its published investment criteria — a unique offering, strong execution team, proven revenue model, clear social impact, scalability and a defined path to profitability — tell founders exactly what the bar looks like.
Why it matters for founders
If you are building in Indian healthtech — AI diagnostics, digital therapeutics, ambulatory care or point-of-care devices — HealthQuad is the specialist early-growth fund that speaks your language, opens hospital doors, and is deploying a fresh Rs 1,700 crore war chest right now.
