Who Grip Invest is

Grip Invest funding works differently from venture capital — and that distinction matters. Grip Invest is a SEBI-regulated online bond platform (an Online Bond Platform Provider, or OBPP) that lets everyday Indian investors buy corporate bonds and securitised debt instruments from just ₹1,000. Startups do not raise equity from it; retail investors use it to earn fixed returns from debt products once reserved for institutions and HNIs. If you are an investor looking to diversify beyond stocks, mutual funds and FDs, this is one of India's leading regulated doors into fixed income.

Thesis

Grip's thesis is the democratisation of fixed income: curated, regulated, non-market-linked opportunities at small ticket sizes, settled transparently through the exchange. It was the first OBPP-licensed platform to fully implement SEBI's Request for Quote (RFQ) API journey, so investors can buy bonds and SDIs almost as easily as stocks — settled through the NSE with clearing corporations handling transfers. RFQ also cut Demat credit time from two days to one and enabled UPI and net-banking payments.

Sectors & stages

Grip is a multi-asset alternative investment discovery platform offering corporate bonds, securitised debt instruments (SDIs), high-yield fixed deposits and mutual funds. It pioneered retail SDIs in India — listing the first-ever SDI on the NSE in October 2022 — with products spanning leasing (LeaseX), invoice discounting (InvoiceX), loan securitisation (LoanX) and bond portfolios (BondX). Fixed deposits are distribution-only: Grip merely distributes FDs, which are not exchange-traded.

Fund size & cheque size

There is no fund here — Grip is a marketplace. Investors can start with ₹1,000, and the platform reports a 4,00,000+ investor community. By late 2023 it had enabled ₹750 crore in investment opportunities across 100+ investee partners, with 3,00,000+ registered investors. Its own caution stands: fixed returns are not guaranteed returns, and debt securities carry credit, market and default risks.

Notable portfolio

Grip's record is measured in firsts: the first SDI listed on the NSE (LeaseX, October 2022) and the first OBPP platform with the full tech-based RFQ journey (October 2023). It operates as Grip Broking Private Limited — SEBI Registration No. INZ000312836, NSE Member Code 90319 — and is also an AMFI-registered mutual fund distributor.

Partners / team

Founded in June 2020 by Nikhil Aggarwal (Founder & CEO), Vivek Gulati and Aashish Jindal (Co-founder & CPO), Grip is backed by Venture Highway, Anicut Capital, Endiya Partners, Lighthouse Canton, AdvantEdge and Multiply Ventures.

Programs & perks

The perks sit in the plumbing: exchange-settled transactions, one-day Demat credit, small-ticket SDI access, and UPI or net-banking payments via the NSE's gateway. As an AMFI-registered distributor, Grip also lets investors hold mutual funds alongside bonds, SDIs and FDs.

How to apply for funding from Grip Invest

Founders do not raise from Grip — investors invest through it. Download the app or visit gripinvest.in, complete KYC, and browse live bonds and SDIs with their offer documents. Start with ₹1,000 and pay via UPI or net banking. Read every offer document carefully: these are debt securities with real credit and default risk, and Grip states it does not guarantee returns.

Why it matters for founders

Grip Invest is not a VC — it is a SEBI-regulated doorway for retail investors into corporate bonds and SDIs from ₹1,000, with exchange-settled safety. Founders should look elsewhere for equity; investors seeking fixed income should start with the offer documents.
