Google for Startups Accelerator: India is Google's flagship programme for Indian founders building with artificial intelligence — and its single biggest attraction is in the name: the programme is equity-free. Google takes no stake in participating startups, while putting its engineers, product experts and AI infrastructure behind them.
The current edition targets Seed to Series A funded, AI-first startups headquartered in India — specifically teams building core AI products such as agentic applications, multimodal systems, thinking/reasoning models or other distinctive generative AI applications and foundational models with potential Google AI use cases. The most recent run was scheduled for June to September 2026 in a hybrid format mixing virtual sessions with in-person elements. Google is looking across healthcare, education, finance, media and entertainment, gaming and enterprise — any industry where an Indian startup can solve problems with AI and ML at global scale.
Eligibility is selective by design. Startups must be past the idea stage with a live product or strong prototype, some customer validation and market traction, a scalable product with a significant addressable market, and a deeply technical team. Google requires the CEO and CTO plus relevant team members to commit to all programme elements. Applications are reviewed in parallel with the application window; a panel of experts shortlists 40–60 startups for interview and pitch sessions, and a selection board makes the final cut.
What founders actually receive is the best of Google applied to an early-stage company: dedicated mentorship from Google teams across AI/ML development, cloud infrastructure, product design and scaling; training in design, marketing and leadership; access to the Google mentor network of engineers and product leaders; early access to new Google AI products through Trusted Tester and early-access programmes; and Google Cloud credits for eligible startups. The programme descends from Google's Launchpad Accelerators, renamed Google for Startups Accelerator in late 2019, which have reached entrepreneurs in more than 40 countries.
Why it matters for founders
If you are an AI-first founder between seed and Series A, this is the rare accelerator that costs you zero equity while giving you Google's technical firepower and cloud credits. The bar is real traction and a genuinely AI-native product — not an AI feature bolted onto an existing app — so apply when your model is in users' hands and your CTO can commit to the full programme.
