Fosun RZ Capital is the venture capital arm of Fosun International, the Shanghai-headquartered Chinese conglomerate. Set up in 2013 and previously known as Fosun Kinzon Capital, it operates as an independent fund backed by the group's strategic resources. The firm expanded to Southeast Asia and the US in 2014, entered India in 2016, and later Israel in 2019; it now runs offices in Delhi and Bengaluru alongside Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, California and Tel Aviv.

The fund invests across the full startup lifecycle — from seed through growth and late stage to the secondary market — writing cheques ranging from $1 million to hundreds of millions of dollars. Its mandate spans tech and new consumer businesses: internet and mobile internet, fintech, education, consumer retail, automotive, high technology such as big data and artificial intelligence, plus semiconductors, self-driving, SaaS, new energy, robotics, cybersecurity and cross-border ventures.

In early 2022 the firm closed its third RMB-denominated fund at 2 billion yuan (about $317 million), taking total assets under management to nearly 10 billion yuan (about $1.6 billion), per its own announcement. Some partner bios cite roughly $1.2 billion instead — the figure moves with the fundraise cycle. That is the fund's AUM; it is distinct from parent Fosun International's far larger balance sheet, which should never be presented as the fund's assets.

Fosun's first Indian venture bet was online travel marketplace ixigo, in a $15 million Series B round led by Sequoia Capital that was signed in January 2017 and closed that March. In May 2017 it put $30 million (about ₹200 crore) into logistics unicorn Delhivery, as part of a $100–130 million round alongside The Carlyle Group. The following year it led the ₹100 crore (about $15 million) Series B of intra-city logistics platform LetsTransport, together with Bertelsmann India Investments, closing in December 2018. Earlier, it led a $750,000 seed round in Indian payroll and HR software startup Kredily. Fintech lender Kissht and MakeMyTrip also feature in its India portfolio.

On the ground in India, the firm's investments were led by India head Tej Kapoor as of 2018, from the Delhi and Bengaluru offices. The team has leaned into sectors where Fosun's industrial ecosystem and China–India cross-border resources can add value — logistics and travel chief among them.

Fosun RZ does not run a public accelerator or publish a startup-credits programme, so founders should not look for a formal "Fosun programme" page. What portfolio companies get instead is access to the conglomerate's industrial ecosystem — distribution channels, co-investment relationships and a bridge into Chinese markets — plus a fund that has stayed patient in India through the ups and downs of the China–India corridor.

Why it matters for founders

For founders, Fosun RZ Capital is worth a look if you are building in logistics, travel, fintech or enterprise SaaS and want a backer with genuine China-market reach. Its cheques are flexible in size, but the sweet spot is Series A to B, and its India activity has been episodic rather than constant — so the best time to approach is when the India team is visibly active.
