Flipkart announced on 5 October 2026 that it has taken a minority stake in TravClan, the Delhi-based B2B travel technology platform. The amount and percentage were not disclosed.

The strategic logic is clear. Flipkart wants to expand its international holiday packages and strengthen on-ground destination support across Cleartrip and Flipkart Travel — and TravClan brings exactly the supply-side muscle that expansion needs.

TravClan's platform serves more than 15,000 travel agents, giving them tools to customise and book packages, hotels and activities with direct supplier contracting. In an industry where supply depth determines customer experience, that agent network is a serious asset.

The incoming capital will fund TravClan's global supply build-out, technology upgrades, destination expansion, and hiring across business development, engineering and destination operations — a classic scale-up agenda for a company moving from startup to platform.

The startup's journey is worth noting. Founded in 2018 by Arun Bagaria, Chirag Agrawal and Ashish Thapliyal, TravClan previously raised US$4.7 million, with a cap table that includes Leo Capital, Cars24 cofounders Vikram Chopra and Mehul Agrawal, and Trip.com's Travis Katz. A Flipkart strategic round on top of that investor base is a strong vote of confidence.

As Nishant Verman, Flipkart's SVP for Corporate Development and Partnerships, put it: travellers want curated holidays supported throughout the journey — and that end-to-end support is precisely what TravClan's agent network and supplier contracts deliver.

For B2B travel and marketplace founders, the takeaway is sharp: giants will pay for supply-side depth they cannot build quickly. Become the infrastructure layer for an ecosystem of agents or sellers, and strategics will come knocking.

Why it matters for founders

Flipkart's minority stake in TravClan shows strategics pay for supply-side depth — 15,000+ travel agents and direct supplier contracts. B2B marketplace founders: become the infrastructure your ecosystem runs on, and giants become investors, not competitors.
