FinTech Collective (FTC) is a New York–based venture capital firm that invests exclusively in fintech. Founded in 2012, the firm is led by Managing Partners Brooks Gibbins and Gareth Jones, operators who built and sold four fintech businesses for proceeds of more than $1.5 billion before turning investors, according to the firm's 2021 funding announcement. The team describes its DNA as global, ambitious and entrepreneurial, rolling up its sleeves to work with founders on strategy and operational detail.

The investment thesis is to back entrepreneurs "rewiring how money moves through the world". FinTech Collective invests thematically across capital markets, wealth and asset management, banking, lending, payments and insurance, alongside a dedicated DeFi strategy investing in both equity and liquid tokens. The firm is an early-stage investor, typically backing companies from seed through Series A and into Series B, with investor databases reporting indicative check sizes of $100K to $10M.

In August 2021 FinTech Collective announced a combined $250 million fundraise — $200 million for its early-stage strategy and $50 million earmarked for decentralised finance — bringing total assets under management to over $500 million at the time. SEC filings tracked by Private Fund Data now show the manager reporting $800.8 million in regulatory assets under management across 15 private funds, including Fintech Collective Fund III LP ($277.7M gross assets), Fintech Collective Fund IV LP, and the Fintech Collective DeFi Fund I and II vehicles. Details of the firm's most recent fund close have not been publicly disclosed.

Portfolio companies featured on the firm's site include Vestwell, the modern fintech engine powering savings and investment programmes with over $30 billion in assets under administration; Simetrik, payments infrastructure for emerging markets processing transactions in more than 40 countries; Mondu, the European B2B payments and BNPL platform; Flutterwave, the African payments gateway; Anyfin, the European digital consumer-finance platform; and Daisy, a US property-management technology company. Notable exits include Quovo's acquisition by Plaid and MoneyLion, which listed on the NYSE and announced an agreement to be acquired by Gen Digital in January 2025, per the firm's news page.

Beyond the managing partners, the firm continues to build and promote its bench from within: it announced the promotions of Samantha Wulfson and Cristobal de Atucha to Principal in July 2025, and of Louden Richason to Principal in May 2026. The firm also runs a weekly global fintech newsletter, delivered every Saturday with a tightly edited rundown of fintech news plus original analysis — a useful free touchpoint for founders researching the firm.

For Indian founders, one caveat is in order: investor databases including Private Equity List, VC Sheet and Venture Capital Archive all list India among the geographies where FinTech Collective invests, but no Indian portfolio company is publicly named by the firm, and we could not verify a specific India investment. We found no public credits, perks or accelerator-style programme on the firm's site — engagement runs through the standard pitch process and the newsletter.

Why it matters for founders

FinTech Collective is one of the few genuinely fintech-only VCs, run by operator partners with a long early-stage track record — a strong match for seed and Series A fintech founders with global ambition. Indian founders should note, however, that its visible portfolio skews towards US, European and emerging-market payments and infrastructure plays; if you pitch, anchor on how your product rewires money movement, not just on growth metrics.
