Exfinity Ventures is an early-stage venture capital firm focused on enterprise technology and deep tech, founded in 2013 with its first fund closing in 2014. It describes itself as a pioneering B2B-focused fund backing startups "building groundbreaking technology from India, for the globe", and claims a track record of over $200M in assets under management, 39 portfolio companies, 10 full or partial exits and 300+ patents held by its portfolio.
Investment thesis
Exfinity was, in its own words, probably the first fund completely focused on B2B technology at a time when most funds treated enterprise tech as a side allocation. The firm identifies mega trends across the globe and examines how companies fit into them, then partners extensively with founding teams to collaboratively solve problem statements and uses its network to fast-forward their progress. The approach is explicitly practitioner-driven: with founders who built and ran large Indian IT services companies, the team works closely with portfolio companies on strategy, organisation design, go-to-market decisions and capital raising.
Sectors, stages, fund size and cheque sizes
Exfinity backs B2B startups across SaaS, enterprise technology, platforms, fintech and health tech, typically at the pre-Series A / Series A stage, though it engages founders earlier and invests anywhere between $500K and $3.5 million per company. The fund progression tells the growth story: Fund I of Rs 125 crore closed in 2014 and is fully exited; Fund II of Rs 300 crore closed in 2016 and has returned capital in full following recent exits; Fund III, targeted at Rs 500 crore, closed in 2023 — with a fourth fund in the works. The firm's second fund delivered a standout 60X MOIC on a partial exit from adtech startup Pixis, while retaining a meaningful stake.
Notable portfolio
Its portfolio spans some of India's best-known enterprise and deep-tech names: customer-engagement platform MoEngage, logistics-tech company Locus (exited after acquisition by IKEA's Ingka Group), cybersecurity firm CloudSek, AI retail platform Mad Street Den, video-creation startup Hippo Video, battery-materials company Log 9 Materials, autonomous-robotics firm Ati Motors, vernacular-AI company Vernacular.ai and adtech breakout Pixis. Recent exits include Kinara.ai (acquired by NXP Semiconductors) and AI Palette (acquired by GlobalData).
Partners and team
The firm is led by Shailesh Ghorpade, managing partner and CIO, and chaired by V Balakrishnan, former chief financial officer of Infosys. The founding group also includes T.V. Mohandas Pai (former Infosys CFO, chairman of the Manipal Education Group), Girish Paranjpe (former Wipro co-CEO) and Deepak Ghaisas (former CEO of i-flex Solutions) — a bench of Indian IT-services veterans that shapes its operator-led investing style.
Programmes and accelerators
Exfinity does not publicly run an accelerator or structured startup programme; its platform is its practitioner network and marquee co-investor base.
Credits and perks
No credits, perks or startup-support packages are publicly documented.
Why it matters for founders
For B2B and deep-tech founders, Exfinity is one of India's most operator-heavy funds — run by people who built global IT services businesses and have now delivered full capital returns on two funds. Expect a thesis-driven, trend-led pitch process and hands-on help with enterprise go-to-market and fundraising.
