D2C startup EDT has raised $2.4 million in a pre-Series A round led by Sauce.VC, with participation from Alteria Capital and a clutch of operator-angels.
Who else wrote cheques
The round drew Raul Rai of Nicobar, Shibam Das and Arindam Paul of Atomberg, Ajith Pai of Delhivery and Anushree Tainwala of Samsonite SA — a strong operator bench spanning D2C brands, logistics and luggage. Sauce.VC, the lead, has built a reputation as the first-cheque fund behind some of India's coolest consumer brands.
E-commerce led the week on deal count
EDT's raise came in a week when e-commerce startups closed the most deals of any segment, even as cleantech topped the charts on dollars. Four D2C and consumer-facing startups collectively raised $3.8 million in the September 28–October 2 window, showing that early consumer bets are still getting funded — just at disciplined valuations.
Why it matters for founders
Consumer investors are backing founders with operator angels who can open doors on distribution and supply chain — not just capital. If you are raising a pre-Series A in D2C, a strategic angel bench is now table stakes.
