EAAA India Alternatives — better known as Edelweiss Alternatives — is one of India's leading multi-strategy alternatives platforms, the alternatives arm of Edelweiss Financial Services. With more than 17 years of presence and ~Rs 72,706 crore in assets under management as of 31 March 2026, it operates across private credit, real assets and private equity with a team of over 270 professionals, including 80-plus investment experts, across offices in Mumbai, New Delhi, GIFT City and Singapore.
The platform's core is yield and income: eight strategies including Performing Credit, Special Situations, Real Estate Credit, Investment Grade Credit, Infrastructure Yield, Commercial Real Estate Yield, Perpetual Capital and Energy Transition. Fee-paying AUM stands at Rs 41,920 crore, split 52 per cent real assets and 48 per cent private credit. Across these strategies, the platform has financed around 190 investments with aggregate financing of approximately Rs 424 billion, and its real-assets portfolio spans 1.73 GW of solar, 4,586 lane km of roads, 3.1 million sq ft of office space and 1,835 circuit km of transmission lines.
The Infrastructure Yield strategy, launched in 2018, won Best Infrastructure Fund – Overall Performance 2026 at the IVCA Alternate Capital Excellence Awards, and its second series raised more than Rs 8,000 crore in 2024.
For startup founders, the most relevant piece is the private equity vertical — the Discovery Strategy. Launched in 2022, it focuses on mid-stage businesses that have demonstrated product-market fit and are entering institutional growth. Discovery has scaled to approximately Rs 2,500 crore in fee-paying AUM across two funds within four years. Discovery Fund I built a portfolio including Shadowfax, Kusumgar, RentoMojo, GIVA, Renee Cosmetics and ProcMart, and is tracking at 1.8x TVPI — with Shadowfax and Kusumgar listing in 2026 and RentoMojo delivering a partial exit at a 6.3x multiple. Discovery Fund II has raised Rs 1,300 crore so far and made its first investment leading a Rs 230 crore round in Arboreal Bio Innovations, targeting roughly Rs 200 crore per company.
The firm is led by Amit Agarwal, Chief Executive Officer of EAAA India Alternatives, and Ashish Agarwal, Managing Director for Private Equity. In January 2026, the company filed its DRHP for an IPO of up to Rs 1,500 crore, and Edelweiss Financial Services divested a 4.4 per cent stake for Rs 375 crore in March 2026 — milestones on the platform's path to listing.
Edelweiss Alternatives is not a seed fund; it is a growth-stage partner for companies with proven unit economics, plus a credit platform for businesses that need structured financing rather than equity. For founders approaching institutional scale — or for startups in infrastructure, real assets and credit-heavy sectors — it is one of the few Indian platforms that can offer equity, credit and real-asset solutions under one roof.
Why it matters for founders
Edelweiss Alternatives combines a Rs 2,500 crore growth-equity Discovery strategy — already producing listings like Shadowfax and Kusumgar — with one of India's largest private-credit and real-asset platforms. For mid-stage founders with strong unit economics, or businesses that need structured credit rather than pure equity, EAAA offers institutional depth and a path to IPO that few domestic platforms can match.
