EAAA India Alternatives made a muted start to its Rs 1,200 crore initial public offering on Monday, 26 October 2026, with the issue subscribed just 0.07 times on day 1, according to subscription data tracked by IPOWatch.
Day 1 subscription, category by category
Qualified institutional buyers subscribed 0.08 times their quota, non-institutional investors 0.16 times, and retail individual investors 0.03 times. The issue, which is entirely an offer for sale of 72.07 lakh shares by promoter Edelweiss Securities and Investments, will not bring fresh capital into the company: proceeds go to the selling shareholder.
The price band is Rs 1,585 to Rs 1,665 per share, with a minimum retail application of 9 shares, or Rs 14,985 at the upper band. The issue closes on 28 October 2026, allotment is expected on 29 October, and listing on BSE and NSE is tentatively set for 2 November 2026.
Grey market premium cools sharply
The grey market premium stood at Rs 35, down from Rs 121 on 23 October, implying a listing price of about Rs 1,700 against the upper band, or a gain of roughly 2.10 per cent if the premium holds. Grey market premiums are unofficial indicators of sentiment, not a guarantee of listing gains, and they can move sharply before listing.
For founders watching the primary market, the contrast with the recent blockbuster listings is the lesson: a strong anchor book, EAAA raised Rs 360 crore from anchor investors ahead of the offer, does not by itself guarantee retail enthusiasm. Two more bidding days remain, and institutional demand often arrives late, but day 1 sets a cautious tone for the rest of the week.
Why it matters for founders
Anchor demand and public demand are different signals. Founders planning a listing should read day 1 subscription across categories, not just the anchor headline, before judging how the market values their company.
