Startup funding in India is also backing a shift from passive scrolling to interactive content. dubdub, a swipe-based trivia and puzzle app, has raised $1.3 million in a seed funding round led by 3one4 Capital, Antler and Stellaris Venture Partners.
Who founded dubdub
dubdub was founded by second-time entrepreneurs Kaustubh Priye and Supan Shah, who previously built health-tech company Aldun, which was acquired by Care.Fi. Launched in March 2026, the app has crossed 20,000 downloads.
What the app does
Each swipe prompts users to answer, guess, solve, recognise, predict or compete, across more than 20 categories including cricket, Bollywood, pop culture, mythology, general knowledge and logical reasoning. The app uses AI and user interactions to personalise challenges, and lets users compete with friends, compare scores and share their experiences.
The funds will be used to expand its product and engineering teams, introduce new interactive formats and improve personalisation. The company also reports early retention rates above the top percentile of casual games, and says it is working towards a broader interactive short-form entertainment platform.
Together, the founders bring more than 30 years of combined experience at companies including Flipkart, Udaan and OnMobile. Investors backing the round framed the bet as a shift from passive scrolling to active participation, with AI enabling faster creation of short, interactive content experiences for a generation that prefers to play, compete and compare rather than simply watch.
Why it matters for founders
For founders, dubdub is a reminder that retention, not downloads alone, is the pitch: 20,000 downloads plus top-percentile early retention gave three established funds a reason to back a seven-month-old app. Build the loop that brings users back daily before you scale acquisition.
