At a glance
Dream Capital funding comes from the corporate venture capital and M&A arm of Dream Sports, the Mumbai-headquartered sports technology company behind Dream11. Set up in 2021 with a $250 million corpus drawn from Dream Sports' own balance sheet, Dream Capital invests in early-stage companies across gaming, sports and fitness technology — writing cheques of between $1 million and $100 million per deal, and open to both minority investments and strategic acquisitions.
Thesis
Dream Capital exists to build an ecosystem around sporting activity. Its top priority is understanding where sports fans will spend their time and money over the next 3–5 years, then backing the startups that accelerate that behaviour. Co-founder and CEO Harsh Jain has described the goal as redeploying Dream Sports' earnings into inorganic growth rather than "trying to do everything ourselves" — creating an entrepreneur-led virtuous cycle of investment, innovation and wealth creation across the sports ecosystem.
Sectors & stages
Core hunting ground: fan engagement, esports, content, apparel, commerce, gaming and Web3, with adjacent bets in fitness tech (Fittr) and fintech (MarketWolf). Dream Capital is stage-agnostic with no stated cap on funding amount — it is generally the sole investor at the early stage and partners with other VCs at later stages.
Fund size & cheque size
The corpus is $250 million, financed from the company's balance sheet. Cheques range from $1 million to as much as $100 million per deal, and at launch the firm intended to invest in about 20 startups over its first two years of operation.
Notable portfolio
The portfolio includes FanCode, DreamSetGo, Dream Pay, Dream Game Studios, KheloMore, Elevar, SoStronk, Fittr and MarketWolf. Its headline deal: leading a $120 million funding round in Rario, the cricket NFT marketplace — the largest minority investment Dream Capital has made to date.
Partners / team
Dev Bajaj serves as Chief Strategy Officer of Dream Sports and Head of Dream Capital — earlier a financial-services professional, an agritech entrepreneur with a successful exit, and a venture capitalist. Dream Sports itself was founded in 2008 by Harsh Jain and Bhavit Sheth.
Programs & perks
Beyond financial capital, Dream Capital provides domain-matter experts, tech, marketing and product-development support, investor networks — and, most powerfully, access to Dream Sports' enormous user base. Portfolio companies get a distribution and engagement channel that few other Indian CVCs can match.
How to apply for funding from Dream Capital
Dream Capital runs no public application portal. The stated invitation from Dev Bajaj: "We would like all sports and gaming entrepreneurs in the country to come and talk to Dream Capital." The practical route is a direct approach or a warm introduction — come with evidence of immense passion in the founding team, clarity of thought, and a responsible business with solid unit economics.
Why it matters for founders
If you are building in sports, fan engagement or gaming, Dream Capital is the most thematic cheque in India — up to $100 million, stage-agnostic, plus the distribution muscle of Dream Sports' hundreds of millions of users. It is the rare CVC that actively invites founders to come and talk.
