At a glance
Draper Startup House funding is not a standard venture round — it is a global network of founder-first "Startup Houses" that blend co-living, co-working, entrepreneurial education and venture access under one roof. In February 2020, investor Tim Draper put $3.5 million (around ₹24.93 crore) into the Singapore-headquartered entrepreneur hostel chain Tribe Theory, rebranding its eight locations as Draper Startup House — including two in Bengaluru, at Koramangala and Indiranagar. The Bengaluru operation has since been rebranded as Founder Startup House, while the network's DSH Accelerator invests up to $100,000 in earliest-stage startups, and residents can submit pitch decks to the Draper Venture Network, a collective of 23 global funds.
Thesis
The mission is simple and ambitious: give every entrepreneur in the world the same access to tools and resources that historically lived only in Silicon Valley. Draper Startup House aggregates global founder talent through its physical houses, then layers on entrepreneurship programming, mentorship and capital access. Tim Draper — an early investor in more than 30 unicorns including Hotmail, Skype, Tesla, SpaceX, Baidu and Bitcoin — positioned the network as the international arm of the Draper ecosystem.
Sectors & stages
Sector-agnostic, and firmly at the earliest stage: exceptional people with extraordinary, out-of-the-box ideas. The India operation has leaned into hands-on execution — sprints, residencies and bootcamps — aimed at founders who need to ship product, not just attend lectures.
Fund size & cheque size
No overall fund size is publicly disclosed. What is on the record: the DSH Accelerator invests up to $100,000 in earliest-stage startups, and founders in the network can route pitch decks into the Draper Venture Network (23 global funds) for follow-on capital.
Notable portfolio
Draper Startup House does not publish a conventional portfolio list. One visible accelerator alumnus: Witit, the creator-monetisation platform that went through the DSH Accelerator pilot programme in January 2022.
Partners / team
Tim Draper (founder of the Draper Venture Network); Vikram Bharati (founder of Tribe Theory); Shashikiran Rao (Co-founder, Europe & India); Karan Bahadur; and Katie Russel and Daniel Wiegand, who co-founded the US parent company. A full current team list is not published on the rebranded site.
Programs & perks
The current Founder Startup House runs sprints, residencies, bootcamps, masterclasses, government startup missions, workshops, university and corporate collaborations, demo days and investor interactions — plus hands-on mentorship and access to funding conversations, all from the Koramangala campus at Startup Lane, 384, 1st A Main Rd, 7th Block, Koramangala, Bengaluru.
How to apply for funding from Draper Startup House
For capital: the DSH Accelerator historically accepted applications at dshaccelerator.com — check the current cycle status before applying. For the ecosystem route: book into Founder Startup House via founderstartuphouse.com (or call +91 87627 08173), join a sprint or residency, and work the network — including the pitch-deck route into the Draper Venture Network — to get in front of investors.
Why it matters for founders
For Indian founders who are too early for a traditional VC term sheet, Draper Startup House offers a rare non-equity on-ramp: live inside a founder community in Koramangala, sharpen execution through sprints and demo days, and earn a shot at $100k accelerator cheques plus intros to a 23-fund global network.
