Healthtech startup Docterz has raised ₹5 crore from around 35 investors, with nearly 60% of the funding coming from doctors who use its platform, the company said on 29 October 2026. The round also saw participation from SUGAR Cosmetics co-founder Vineeta Singh and CaratLane co-founder Avnish Anand — a customer-led cap table that stands out in startup funding in India.

A platform built by a doctor, for doctors

Founded over a decade ago by Dr Atish Laddad, Docterz offers an integrated platform for clinical and administrative workflows, including electronic medical records, appointment scheduling, billing, vaccination management and patient engagement. Its technology supports more than 5,000 doctors across India, and it is building deeper patient-engagement features and integration with India’s digital-health ecosystem, including the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.

What the money will do

The capital will fund organic expansion, explore acquisitions and develop practical AI tools for everyday clinical and practice-management tasks, reaching more independent practitioners, smaller clinics and healthcare organisations. Dr Laddad said around 20 doctors who use Docterz chose to invest, and Vineeta Singh called customer-investors one of the strongest signals any business can send.

Why it matters for founders

The lesson for founders is blunt: when your own users write cheques, fundraising gets easier and diligence gets shorter. Building for a community you belong to — and letting that community own a piece — is a moat no marketing budget can buy.
